The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
So, I've been developing a report on our new database. This, I was told, was to contain the same information as the report on the old system. Complete arse of a report, taken ages to get anywhere & still currently running at the speed of a geriatric snail. I go through to the users this morning & ask how many they'd like as a test sample, and they decide "oh, a couple for each user". I look at them blankly & say "You want usernames on there?" & they tell me yes, they won't be able to do anything without usernames, indeed they laugh at the thought of how much work it will cause them. So, the one frigging (*^%^$$% *(&^&*%$$ change on the report & nobody though it was worth mentioning? Not a happy bunny would be somewhat of an understatment.
Non-IT people in organisations suck because they have absolutely NO idea how the systems they rely on to even 'open for business' work - it always bemuses me how these days someone can get to MD level with no clue about IT or systems or generally how they work.
Say "Database" to my MDs and with the exception of the 1 IT MD - they would just sit there scratching their arses....
I sympathise with you matey!

blimmin heck, you IT people, all you do is complain ;)
I have no idea how long it takes you to do something (you?, surely its the computer?) nor do I care. I will flippantly change my mind a few days after I've made my requests and expect you to run around at my whim. After all IT is a service, much like cleaners and vending machine people isn't it?
The above was a joke - please don't hate me - I have no comprehension how long it takes IT people to do things but they always look a bit stressed so I guess its not easy....
Katie - that would be such a great plan, only it's patient confidential data I'm reporting on, which basically means they have to kill me if I attempt to take it out the building.
Would you like to hear how my lovely day ended? Been fighting a nasty bug for weeks now (we're talking the kind of virus that attacks people here, not computers!), generally not pleasant & not having the best of effects on my asthma. Concientious girl that I am I've struggled into work as much as possible, despite being bad enough to spend most of my weekends in bed. So, after coughing solidly for 20 minutes, I go into see my boss, at about half three, & inform her I'm going home. Her response? "What, you mean at 4?" The significance of this being that should I wait until 4 it would come out of my flexi, leave before & I get to put down 5 o'clock. BLOODY CHEEKY MARE!!!!!!!! Already owe loads of flexi because I have been using my time when I needed to go early from feeling generally rough, but I feel when I can't physically work because I'm coughing (pretty distracting for anyone else in the office too!) it's quite reasonable to go home sick!
I have to say that I'm unconvinced that your employer has any right whatsoever to make you take time out of your flexi-time for sickness. In fact I strongly suspect that this is in violation of your statutory rights in respect of sick leave. What did you do in the end.
It seems to me that it's time your employer found out what a week without a Sharon in the office was like. You're looking very pale today.
I now have a fantastic mental image of a composite of the cheeky mare in question & a horse with an exceptionally large backside. It's amusing me greatly.
The latest? She reckons that because the other office on has to provide cover until 4 on a Friday (we have to provide cover until 5) I should be putting 4 on my flexi sheet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ahem - this is where employers simply don't understand.
Next time you take a holiday phone in sick for the first day you are due back and the balance will be restored as if by magic.
