Uh Oh...

I just spotted this poster on the old interweb...

And... if that's not bad enough, I read this article...

Chris Evans has reportedly agreed to turn in his white-hot Human Torch tights and appear as Officer Jon Baker, better known as partner to one Officer Francis L. Poncherello of CHiPs fame. That role will be filled by Wilmer Valderrama as these two hop on motorcycles and take this early 80s show onto the big screen.

And I may have mentioned this one before, too:

Stephen J. Cannell, creator of the popular 1980s TV series The A-Team, hopes to get an updated movie version out soon...The new script will be a faithful revision of the original A-Team story, taking place in the present time, however, and not in the '80s. Instead of being Vietnam veterans wrongfully pursued for a crime, the team will be Gulf War soldiers...Cannell would like to get the surviving original actors to appear in cameo roles. As for the title characters themselves, he has at least one name in mind: Bruce Willis as Hannibal.

So, what with good old Battlestar Galactica starting it's third season soon (which, to be fair, is actually startlingly good!), it's Invasion of the 80's Saturday Teatime shows.  We've already seen Charlie's Angels... twice.  And Mission Impossible... three times!  How long until we see the Street Hawk and Airwolf movies?  What else is left?

Then, of course, there's the ultimate horror.  Wait for it... A Dallas movie!

In 1978 a TV show debuted on CBS that was set to rock the world for the next 13 years. That show was of course 'Dallas' and became the most successful show in television history. Now Dallas is about to rock the world once again as Dallas the Movie will soon begin production with Hollywood stars taking on the roles of the Ewing family

Where the hell is the originality?  Are there no new ideas out there?  Maybe we should come up with a pitch for an original JDBB movie!

Two of those I kinda like the idea of - being the A team and Knight Rider - the other two will suck balls because Chris Evans IS A DJ not an actor and Dallas always sucked balls, but not mine because they hadnt dropped then...

Too much information

Yeah.  The A Team could make a decent movie.  It'd make an even better TV series though.  Maybe set in the 80's with George Peppard and that guy who fought Rocky Balboa.

lol

It's funny that they can't come up with original ideas anymore, that car in the poster is a fake though

http://www.aintitcool.com/node/30145

from the article they were looking at something like this for the car:

and no hoff

The one in the poster above looks a bit girlie, actually.  Yours is much better.  Has to be black, though.

I'd heard about the lack of Hoff, too.  Heh.

So which Hollywood star would you cast as The Hoff in a big budget re-make?

Why don't we just cast Jim Carrey and get it over with!

Do TV programmes always take this long to develop KT? It seems to me your guys had better be being paid a stack load of cash to claw back all the developmental costs... but saying that I dont know much about this, though to be fair that doesnt normally stop me and I'm sure it wont this time...

ours is taking a wee bit longer because we're self funding, but i assure you it will all be worth it when it sells (we're retaining creative control)

also, with animation, a single episode takes about 9 months to develop, you can start an episode every week or so and work on it simultaneously so perhaps about 15 months

Originality is gone straight out the window as the enterainment industry has completely forgotten antiquated concepts like producing quality material and has completely sold its soul to the Almighty ... err ... Pound.

Note the same trend in music ...

Why bother coming up with something new and actually good (back when music and movies where more art and less product to sell) when we will all run out and overpay for the the tripe they shove down our throats with multi-million dollar advertising campaigns?

Isn't it odd though that they spend more money reinventing stuff that was fine (or not) the first time round.  You'd think that the original stuff would cost more...

I thought it was already in production.  Or was the trailer we saw a while ago just a sampler?

Oh and I suppose the big question is - have you sold it yet?

nah it's not in production yet, the pitches are coming up hopefully this month (which is when we might sell it) (we do have scripts and stories underway but it's not actually being animated just yet)

the trailer is now kind of 'old' and doesnt really represent the show soooo much anymore - well it does kinda, in regard to the animation 'style' at least - but yeah, it was just a sampler

I think it's very important that it features at least one jammie dodger in every episode.  It's the jam that people watch telly for, so putting one in will guarantee high viewing figures!

It's still cool.

back when I was a student I first studied TV production and know how difficult it is to be creative and to get anything to the point you have is amazing (the most I have ever done is a first draft of a pilot for a TV series) - best of luck with selling your series. !
