All sorts of problems for UK airline passengers today:




Travel advice for passengers
The Department for Transport has issued advice to air passengers after a suspected plot to blow up planes was prevented:

Following this morning's police action, security at all UK airports has been increased and additional security measures have been put in place for all flights.

With immediate effect, the following arrangements apply to all passengers starting their journey at a UK airport and to those transferring between flights at a UK airport.

All cabin baggage must be processed as hold baggage and carried in the hold of passenger aircraft departing UK airports.

This is bad isnt it - they reckon they were targetting flights between the UK and the US - these people suck...


But praise due to the secret squirrel guys for foiling this one - we probably dont want to know just how many of these get prevented!


Isnt it worrying though - I mean they arrested over 18 people regarding this one - we're not talking about the odd screwed up psycho here- there's alot of em!

Chalk another up for the good guys

These people are scary because they have no fear and are hell bent (or I guess heaven bent in their case) on killing people. I meant these people actually think they are going to heaven or paradise or whatever for killing people, too bad they don't realize they will just be bits of flesh and bone chips at the bottom of the ocean after blowing up the plane they are in.

I think I read somewhere that they'd foiled six 'major' plots since the bombings in London last July.  God knows how many 'minor' ones they've prevented.  What qualifies a terrorist event as 'major', anyway?  The number of lives it's intended to take?  The level of disruption it's intended to cause?


As Brian says, these guys are just nutjobs (and possibly asshats as well) who just don't undertsnd what they're doing.  The only thing that they're going to achieve is to further damage relations with muslim communities.

i agree with the first part of what you said brian, but not so much the last sentence

however, yes - power to the good guys, this freaks me out a little (as i will be flying home in a week or so) but they've caught them - they can strip search me for all i care if it means they'll find and stop nasty evil people that want to cause this kind of destruction
