joe! have you seen the size of that bonfire they built on fane street?? - it totally rises above the height of tate's avenue bridge


i'm slightly scared, it could wipe out the entire estate lol

Not burnt, it was to wet at the weekend - i was camping in a field with about 50,000 other music lovers

Thankfully that meant that i wasnt anywhere near Belfast/Northern Ireland on the 12th for good reason - trouble brewed as usual

yes, it really doesn't make sense - in my honest opinion both sides are as bad as each other mind you, stones are thrown from both sides..  the parades used to be a cross-community everyone would go to them and enjoy thing (like 40 or 50 years ago).. now they seem to either offend/**** people off.. or cause riots .. either way i find it amusing that that site you sent us to joe says this:

That doesnt surprise me as most orangemen/supporters/bandsmen dont know what they are really marching for anyway - it is for sheer intimidation, i heard one guy saying that a march want a march if it didnt pass through a catholic area

I think most of them don't know what they are marching for - they just want an excuse to behave like idiots - much the same as football hooligans - most of the actual football fans are well behaved but there are some for whom it is an excuse to behave like animals.


I feel the same about a lot of protesters - you see the same people on every march - they don't really care about that particular issue - they just want an excuse to protest - they all need to get lives!

I thought that i should return to this thread as i no have a pic of the bonfire that KT was talking about:



This was taken by my mate rowan and its hosted on his deviantart space.

His comments on it are: "This is the bonfire on Tates Avenue Belfast before it was lit. It was put together by kids climbing up the side of it, filled with old tires, lit with petrol bombs, and ended up melting everything around it."
