OK... I've seen both and it's a close call.  But which do y'all think is better?  Superman Returns or Pirates of the Carribean.  If you haven't seen 'em, which do you most wanna see?

Superman got kind of lukewarm reviews. I wasn't that amped to see it, and the reviews put the nail in the coffin. I'll wait for the DVD.

Pirates though.. I can't wait to see that one.

And for the record, Ninjas rock too.

Pirates has Johnny Depp.  And Orlando Bloom, just in case there's any scenes Mr Depp can't be in.  I rest my case.

ok having seen both - superman gets my vote all the way

a lot of the reviews i read were bitter people complaining that they spent so much making the movie in the first place - to be honest, it shows.. after about 5 minutes i was in love with superman (after billy) - jackie, i highly recommend seeing it, and in addition to that, if you're expecting the worst, you'll be surprised (well maybe, it's in the back of my mind that you and i have different movie tastes haha)

i loooooved the first pirates - it was so original and natural and funny and amazing, the second one is good - but not as good - to me it was sort of just the same movie rehashed and, without ruining it - the ending was toooo annoying

and thus it comes second only to super super superman

i'm always a big fan of rotten tomatoes - they take reviews from newspapers, critics and magazines all over and give the movie a percentage mark

anyway, superman got 75%
pirates got 53%

Funny.  I only read good reviews for Superman prior to it's release.  Didn't really see any for Pirates.  Except the Ninja one.  That was funny.

Well I'll be honest.. I was never really a super fan (haha) of the Superman franchise to begin with. I mean I've seen all the movies, and they were good, but Superman was never really my guy. So I wasn't really aching to go see it. I'll definitely see it, but I'm going to save my $10.50 and go see Pirates instead.

But reviews and all aside... I know Brandon Routh is a good looking chap and all.. but he's so flat. The man has no personality. Everytime I hear him talk in interviews and stuff he might as well be the peanuts teachers. WhaaWhaaaWhaaa Whaa Whaaa.... shrug.

Johnny Depp and I have a long standing one sided fan girl love affair. So I guess that's where my bias is.

Superman is kinda 2D as a character so you dont want too much "Hamming it up" going on in my view.


 


I have to say I have been waiting 20 years for the new Supes film and was terrified that they might balls it up - but I have to say it blew me off my seat. I havent seen Pirates yet - and I like almost all of what Depp does - but I cant imagine it will be better - not for me anyway!
