Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
Nope - as a british citizen ireland doesnt check your passport for a very good reason:
People from the pink bit at the north tend to do a lot of driving to the green bit in the south to get cheaper petrol and stuff - there are lots of little twisty roads that it would be impossible to monitor properly, however that isnt to say that there hasnt been roadblocks - that wasnt done by the irish government though, the british govenrment used floating roadblocks and a huge big mother of a cross border check point as part of their anti terrorism strategy.
So an agreement was met that passports would be checked - it simply wasnt affordable.
Apparently they very occassionaly check them at the ports, probably just if they're feeling bored! As it was the check consisted of them asking everyone going through the EU gate what nationality they were.
Indeed, and as I said "British" in a British accent I passed the test (though strangely I was acussed of having an Aussy accent at the weekend, good job the customs guy didn't think so!)
If they smelt the Guinness coming out of your pores, they might have deduced that you were Irish eh.
The US almost did not let me back in at the end of a Toronto week end. I guess the photo copy of my citizenship certificate wasn't what's deemed to be 'papers in order.'
Cuz i used to work in a bar i got loads of guinness merchandise for free
But then my sister decided she liked the look of it and liberated most of it, apart from one polo shirt that used to be black but is just a little bit faded now. I had a limited edition snakebite tshirt as well (for st patricks day) This is the only example i could find
