The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
A joint committee of MPs and peers has questioned whether the government's plans for a smoking ban in England are consistent with human rights laws.
The Health Bill would ban smoking in all enclosed public places except pubs and clubs that do not serve food.
But the Joint Committee on Human Rights is concerned the plans may discriminate against those working in places run by public bodies that permit smoking.
BBC political correspondent Gary O'Donoghue said: "Most of the time the committee questions the fine detail of legislation, but in this case it's casting doubt on a central element of the plans - the exemptions for pubs and clubs that don't serve food - a Labour election manifesto commitment."
The concern centres on the question of discrimination, and whether people working in establishments run by public bodies that permit smoking are being unfairly treated in comparison to those who work elsewhere.
The partial ban plan was put forward by the government after several days of argument within the Cabinet.
Um... Is it just me, or do the Joint Committee on Human Rights seem to be missing the point here...
I was simply giving moral support, dude. It's selfless people like you that put food on the tables of people in the tobacco industry. Because of you, their children will eat tonight.
The good people of Virginia and the stakeholders in the Altria Group probably owe me a debt of gratitude. I shall plead my case as a philanthropic act, then.
Right, I had a discussion with another friend about this, here's how that went:
NPO: Got a blind date...
K: Is she (assuming it *is* a she, since you don't know who it is and all ) bringing her own seeing eye dog, or do you have to bring that instead of flowers?
NPO: And, we're going to one of the nicest restaurants in the Twin Cities, because I'm a player. So stop trying to rain on my parade!!
K: Ah yes, the Nathan Oliver parade. I look forward to it every year. Are you gonna have the Underdog balloon? He's my favorite
NPO: And she likes computer geeks... I've got a good feeling about this one...
K: Oookaaaay, but there's different levels of geek. There's general computer geek, which is what she may be thinking of, then there's Nate-level computer geeks...
While I won't be talking about spreadsheets, not at any level of detail, that's the lightweight stuff. When you get into serious trouble is when you start getting into Byte Arrays/digitizing and slamming the Windows heap by reallocating BSTRs via concatenation, etc... Good stuff!
The real trick, I find is to get them talking, just ask questions and keep up. Doesn't get much easier, and the added bonus is that now you're a 'good listener'!
Hmmm, maybe I should go into financial forecasting... Or wait, I do do this...
As expected, I recieved double-negative bonus points for my ongoing experimentation with tobacco. But other than that, this went pretty well, I thought. Well, I generally have a good time, either way, and this was no exception!
Here's a pic of Tracy and I at W.A. Frost's in St. Paul (recommended) from last night:
Judging by the mug on the table it's post-meal and you're both still smiling. Can't have been bad. I think you need to thank whoever it was that got you the date.
Yep, that was taken as we were leaving. We were seated at 7:00 pm and didn't end up leaving until 9:30 pm!
Me ol' mucker, AOK made this one happen, it's his fiance's good friend, and I can see why, she's good people. We ended up going to another spot I know after and ended up talking until 1:15 am or so.
AOK's been thanked, in fact, he might have earned himself a seat at the head table for that one!!
bonniepirateanne, yes many, many lamps and paintings, etc... It's this kind of crazy lamp place:
