Wow, this is still going?

Okay, with the hope that we can wrap this up this year, I'll tell you what the theme is:

Computer (desktop) Software

I might have thunk that this would be apparent at this point...

In any case, I was going to limit it to Microsoft Office products, but I wanted to, once again, sieze the opportunity to slam the third piece of software, which happens to be the bane of my existence.

Good hunting.

Go back to the Paint.Net thread and check out what you wrote. Should be pretty obvious at that point!

We're actually talking about two different things, here. What I had in mind are PDF files, which drive me insane!!

Photoshop is definitely what the pros use, while I do find it to be relatively non-intuitive.

they're pretty good for preserving 300dpi for sending info to printers and stopping people messing with stuff

PDF's are great if you never intend to do anything with them other than look at them. They are trerrible for trying to consume any data electronically. People need to embrace XML for than one.

Surely 300 dpi is nothing special.

Christ, I can get 600 dpi with X-L and that's a raster graphics program, versus vector graphics.

If you want an image, use Paint.Net. If you want a data report, perhaps XML, but that technology isn't up to speed yet... I'd use plain old HTML or.... X-L!!

Otherwise, you're playing games with people's time and emotions...

i just meant that it's the industry standard dpi for print material, and in addition to things like illustrator documents, printers will also take pdfs - i havent met a printer yet that asked for something in that X thingy you're talking about
