Headaches

So my Jammie friends I thought I would share my week with you...

On Sunday of last week (so ten days or so ago) I got afflicted with a blinding headache behind me eyes. And the same again in training on the monday evening (with the JDK and it wasnt his aftershave neither!) -

Having had it again on the tuesday I went off to see the Doc on Wednesday and after a brief chat (discussing family history etc) - they sent me off for a CT scan... nice.

So I gets to the hospital and they go and admit me! - (not in the plan) and promptly spend the day prodding and poking me (and not in a good way) including, blood tests, CT scan, full physical and a lumber puncture (which both sucks and blows) - all to find... nothing.

So I have been lying around the house since living on a painkiller diet and went back to the doc today who looked at me again - and told me there wasnt really any more they could do. Its probably a virus - might get better on its own and in the mean time they took more blood for good measure.

They said they'll ring me within the week if they find anything and promptly signed me off work for a week too.

And there was me thinking we had advanced in the modern age of medicine.

Ho hum...

BTW JDK where was my bloody vigil? - kidding

Do you really want a vigil?  I was just concerned that you would get upset when nobody cared...

Just kidding dude.  The reason you don't have a vigil is because I have absolute faith in you powers of rapid recuperation.  After all, you recovered when you died after falling over that step in your garden.  And when you died from your knee pain or whatever it was whilst running.

You think you have problems, dude.  Take a look at Mike.  He was mentioned on an old re-run of QI last night.

Ow!  You definitely win the prize for things that suck!  Hope it goes away soon.

PS  I'd have attended your vigil.

Could you have Migraines? I'm sure they probably were checking for that, but they can be brought on by so many different things perhaps they just missed it?

My mom gets them because she's photosensitive, I get them because I'm broken, my husband's aunt gets them because of allergies and they can knock her out for days.

They are horrible, and I'm sorry you weren't feeling well... headaches are the worst sick feeling thing there is. Stomach ache you can sorta manage, sore throat you can go about your day.. but when you have a headache, especially a behind the eyes brain bending nightmare headache, life pretty much has to stop.

I get mind-bending headaches every now and again.  With the throbbing and the nausea and dizziness.  Pills don't help.  The only thing for it is to go and have a hot bath.  For some reason that always helps.

I'm never sure if they're bad enough to count as migraines though and I just can't work out what causes 'em.  Haven't had one for a while... fingers crossed...

Another contender for the worst ailment is toothache.  It may not be as painful as a migraine, but it seems to have an added psychological effect that makes it so much worse...

Ooohh Good call on the toothache. I agree.. that can be almost as bad. But I rate it this way. I can drive with a stomachache, a toothache, an earache, but I cannot drive with a headache. So it wins the "worst ailment ever" award.

When I get Migraines, a cup of strong coffee, and a nap in total blackness do the trick. I sometimes get searing headaches if my blood sugar drops too low, but I think that's something else entirely.

I am doing much better all - thanks for the nice messages!

Headaches do suck - but pain in general is a c*ck and frankly i dont know why our bodies need to provide so much pain to make the point - just tell me where I am damaged - thats all I need to know! dont cripple me!
