Kit was an experimental reference to Katie, which is short for Katherine as I now understand it. And no, like Jim is to James, Dick is to Richard and Betty is to Elizabeth, it need not be a transparent association.

I shall indeed sign up.  In fact I could have done with that link a few weeks back!  (I do vaguely remember you mentioning it over on UA, so I have no-one but myself to blame!)  However as it is the weekend it will have to wait.

It's not fair! Here I am doing my son-ly duties and you guys are all having loadsa fun without me. I don't get to chat up the Jammie birds or edit other people's posts! Instead I have to sit in the M.I.L.'s lounge pretending I really do want to watch Love Spastically with them. I am only able to post cos my flashy mobile phone lets me view the JDBB (albeit on a tiny screen!). They haven't cottoned on yet...

By the way, Nate, the board options only have 2 settings: edit ALL posts or edit NO posts. I have only given the power to my trusty lieutenants to date, although I could be persuaded to formally appoint an ambassador to the USA. (hmm..hmm?)

Although, at least here, editing others posts is appreciated. Do it at MrE and you're going to get a 10 page thread on how yankee Mods are worse than Bush in terms of power abuse.
