the freaking movie is now even making the news!

Yep, was on the FRONT PAGE of the Metro (no, really, it's the most important thing happening in the WHOLE WORLD), that's why I went hunting for a link to delight you all with.

Yay.  They're advertising it on the side of the busses in Bristol, now! Only two weeks to go until this certain cinematic classic!  To celebrate, we must tell snake anecdotes and jokes!

Here's the first one:

Whilst pulling up a patio a few weeks ago, Stead and I discovered three, yes three, snakes!  It was very exciting and we were impressed enough to take a short video of them with Stead's phone.  If we're lucky, we can persuade him to post the video.

Saw a couple of guys in Liverpool breaking into spontaneous fits of laughter when they saw one of the bus adverts.

I fully intend to take in this cinematic delight over the Bank Holiday Weekend.  Who's with me?

And... er... what did you think Katie?

i will never ever see it again and quite frankly it was awful
however, i totally see why it is a cult movie - i'm just not into there being scary snakes on a plane, i wish someone woulda told me what it was about

Oh well, thanks a bunch there, Katie.  You've only gone and given the whole plot away!  Pfff!  Now there ain't no point in me going to see it.

Except for the snakes... on the plane... with Samuel L...

S.O.A.P. opened last week in the U.S. ... and it's also in the news here ... here's a local news story about people camping out to see the premier:

The news is reporting that the movie did not take in as money as the production company forcasted. The news kept reporting about how much internet buzz this movie had and how much money it was going to make, etc. I think all they were doing was counting google hits instead of actually reading what people were saying about it.

Heh heh heh.  It was never gonna be a good movie.  It was never gonna do well in the mainstream.  I suspect the studio knew this.  The media has a habit of describing the box office receipts of any movie that takes less than $1bn in the first weekend as a flop. That said, the BBC was quite positive.

Lets face it, it cost £35m.  It made $13.85m in it's opening weekend, over a 3rd of it's costs.  It'll make it's money back while it's still in the cinemas, which is all it needs to do.

When it gets down to it, it was always gonna be a second rate movie.  With snakes in.  And a plane.  And Samuel L.  And I'm still gonna see it!

oh i definitely think it's worth seeing (if you don't mind violent movies) - it will go down as a cult classic forever

i agree they were totally aware of what they were doing (and seriously - isn't this like the cheapest movie they've ever made!!!? .. apart from the princess bride which i could recreate with a twig and $60 in my pocket)

I think the Blair Witch project actually holds the title as the cheapest movie ever made to turn a major profit.. I think they spent like $20k on it, but htey made a couple of million and spawned a really hideous sequal.

From IMDB on "The Blair Witch Project

This film was in the Guinness Book Of World Records for "Top Budget:Box Office Ratio" (for a mainstream feature film). The film cost $22,000 to make and made back $240.5 million, a ratio of $1 spent for every $10,931 made.

Clerks was right up there too, it only cost $26,800

Sadly Clerks only made $3 million at the box office, but that still is a pretty good ROI

Hah.  The Pick of Destiny finally came out and I finally got to see it last night!  What can I say.  The movie was awesome and I was truly ROCKED!

Actually, it was really dumb and KG can't act to save his life, but it was lost of fun and had some good moments.  And some awesomely kick-ass rockin' songs.
