Sad day on Friday

After 33 years my job is at it's end.  Outsourced to India.  I hope that the corporate knot heads can sleep at night knowing that they have contributed to downfall of the US economy.  Makes me sick and pissed off furious

Maybe it's time to show your entrepeneurial skills and start your own business...If a moron like me could do it, anyone should be able to...

Turn it around, dude!...twocents.gif...Ben

UUUGh :( Being downsized is the worst feeling in the world. It happened to me years back and it sucks. I do like Ben's suggestion though. Roll with it! Maybe this was just what needed to happen for you to go off and make your own way :)

It was exactly that situation ten years ago that caused me to end up in Bristol. I'm glad it happened, now. I love Bristol. We've recently been through a similar downsizing operation in my current job, but fortunately made it through unscathed... For now!

& to think I complained when they moved my job by 40 miles! It does suck, but I'm pleased to say that's it's all worked out nicely for me (not that there weren't some serious lows to get through en route), so here's hoping you'll be saying the same in a few months.

Good luck mate - here's hoping for a silver lining!

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I have been so busy job hunting that I have not been around much. I have a couple leads but I kind of like the idea of starting a business. I think I wll look into it. For now though it looks like a street corner, tin can, and my guitar. Hopefully the police won't find me hmm

I started one business out of the trunk of my car: mobile mechanic...It grew to the point where it consumed my two car garage on a part time basis...When I had to give up wrenching due to the ravages of time, I started selling guns from a single table at a gun show...Later, when I decided to sell the largest gun store and indoor shooting range in my county, I did it for enough to retire comfortably...

If a dumb old redneck like me can do it twice, surely a young, educated man-about-town such as yourself can find success...king...Ben

It sucks big time! (not Ben's career plan - the being unemployed bit)

I have a couple of fiends pout of work at the moment - they're both IT professionals and there's very little going for them at the moment. We do have one Bored Boarder who managed to sort it out though! Hopefully, you will too!

I have no idea what's available in your part of the world, but I was lucky enough to go on a couple of courses at my local college at the taxpayer's expense Worth checking out if there's anything you can do, not only were the courses (& the sandwiches!) pretty good, but I found it really helped talking with others in the same situation, who weren't my ex-collaegues.
Everyone from my old place is now employed either permanently or on long term temp contracts - it can be done!
Good luck with whichever route you choose.
