Sympathy please!

I have shingles & I'm feeling most sorry for myself bleh.  Am self medicating with Ben & Jerry's, which helps (gotta wash the painkillers down with something) & I'm now going to make a row of synchronised farting badgers to cheer myself up...

OOOOOOOG >:[ Do not like :( Much sympathy ... I've never had it but my FIL has, and from what I understand it's really awful. If ever there was a time to indulge in copious amounts of ice cream, this is it. Feel better soon!

Wooooooo!  Just coming round from the painkillers!  Well that's good to know, if needs be I can just spend most of the next week unconcious!  (Was a bit of a shock, I've never met a "may cause drowsiness" warning that's applied to me before!)

Well that all sucks! Hope you feel better soon.

I too have never met a drowsy-making drug that made me drowsy except for one incident where I took an antihistamine which appeared to work by sending me to sleep rather than actually suppressing the symptoms.

Eeek! So I thought I'd take a couple of painkillers before bed so I could get the anti-inflammatory effect, but not notice being knocked out by it, as I'd already be asleep. Oh no! Instead it seems that the side effects just waited until I'd had my normal sleep before kicking in - how the hell does that work? I have no idea if they kill the pain, they just disconect my brain from my body, so I no longer care.
The good news is that I've apparently got it the right side of 50. Reading up it could be a hell of a lot worse & the chances of getting a nasty bout are far higher if you're over 50. Also, I'd always thought that once you'd had it it was quite likely to return, but seemingly the opposite is true - happy news.
Ooh look, I've found a smiley depicting the state of my brain: insanity

is shingle better or worse than sand? In general, I think I prefer shingle.

I like the kind of shingle you might get fossils in, but not this kind, which just makes me feel like an old fossil.
