Computer Game/TV/Movie violence engenders real life violence... [9 vote(s)]

What a load of tosh! I play Grand Theft Auto and watch slasher movies all the time and I've only butchered my family the once!

Of course it does! Loads of people butcher their families because their Playstation told them to.

I was watching a news "in depth" story the other day about this. There are some scientists that think that kids (teenagers) are much more prone to violence from video games than someone in their 20's and older. This is because the teenage brain is not fully developed and much more easily "conditioned" for violence. I can't really relate to this at all since when i was a teenager the most violent game I played was Moral Kombat. It was definately not realistic looking, at least not in today's game standards. So who really know if this new theory is or isn't a sack of bunny turds.

Surely though, it could be argued that some kids are just plain more prone to violence than other whether it by by nature or nurture.  Real life is likely to have far more of an impact on their general naughtiness than computer games or tv.

I'm no psychological expert, of course.  Maybe the monkey lady has an opinion.  Do chimps that play Grand Theft Auto rip off more arms than chimps that only play Mariokart?

Brings an interesting image to mind.  Two ancient japanese samurai warriors facing off, sparring with moral words of wisdom.

"I like bunnies!"

"I like bunnies more than you like bunnies!"

"Hah.  I Love Bunnies!!!"

"Ew."
