The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
Anyway - the movie. I was convinced it was a Coen Brothers movie and because I didn't pay any attention to the credits, came out afterwards, still convinced of this. It isn't though. But it kind've is, cos it feels just like one. If you liked Fargo and No Country for Old Men and The Big Lebowski, then you'll probably like this. It even has The Dude in it (not the The Dude, Ben. The real one!) It's a film based on a book about the US army's supposed experiments with psychic weapons (A.K.A. Jedi Warriors) in the early 80s and stars George Clooney, Ewan MacGregor and Jeff Bridges. It was pretty damn funny and there were no girls in it. Well... maybe a couple, but they didn't have any speaking roles!
That is all.

Well, last night I did see the remake/reimagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street ... it was suprisingly good. It can never be as scary as the original, well, because I've seen it ... and I was 15 or so at the time ... but this is a very good modern take.
It's darker, Freddie is less wise-cracking and more downright evil. More back story is given too which is good.
If you're into old school horror movies it's worth a punt ... do remember though, I love horror movies generally, others with me were not so keen.
I'd quite like to see this, but will probably wait for it wind it's way onto the telly before I do. Stuff only seems to take 12 months or so to get onto Sky movies these days.
Looking forward to Iron Man 2 some time in the next couple of weeks. I had planned to see it this weekend but it didn't pan out. Prince of Persia looks pretty entertaining too, in a dumb "I'll have a P please, Bob" sort of way.
The short review: It was good, but not as good as the first one. Downey Jr. wasn't able to balance the arrogance with the lovable humility that he did the first go around, and wasn't nearly as likable. Paltrow REALLY phoned it in. She's a total snoozer. Jackson was awesome as always, and Johansson had an interesting character and stole the scenes she was in (KAPOW!!!). Rourke creeps me the right out ALL the time, and he didn't disappoint here.
In summary: Go see it, it's fun, but not as interesting as 1.
kinda played Rorschach again ... but you, that was actually exactly what it needed :) Was different in pre-dead Freddie guise ... I guess to prove he can do two things :) (I jest, he's feckin' cooool) ... so in short, yes, yes he did

He showed up in Human Target as some sort of PI. Pretty much a Rorschach with a slightly brighter outlook on life. Stick with what you do best, I guess!
"Saving Private Ryan" still has the most realistic battle scenes of any movie ever filmed...Unbelievable accuracy on the part of the film makers...It's an appropriate movie to watch on this Memorial Day weekend when we honor the dead he fell to keep us free...Ben

Clearly Rambo II is the most realistic

Well, last night I did watch Crazy Heart. Tis the story of a washed up, alcoholic country singer and his attempts to reinvent/redeem himself. It is very much "The Wrestler" but about music.
Produced by Robert Duvall and T Bone Burnett, it's beautifully shot and some brilliant starring performances from Jeff Bridges and Magie Gyllenhaal.
Well worth a watch in my opinion, the relationship between the two stars seems strangely believable even though it's that odd simply because of Bad Blakes charm, his tensions and interplay with his old band mate who has now surpassed him (Colin Farrell) and the eventual breakdown/reinvention.
Last week I saw Predators. You know how in the first Predator movie, a bunch of bad-ass dudes go into the jungle and get picked off by a bad ass Predator. Well, this is pretty much the same, only this time the bad ass dudes are picked off by a whole bunch of bad ass Predators. it ticks every box you might expect from a Predator movie and then chucks in a sweet samurai sword fight between a Japanaese bloke and a predator.
Also, I managed to catch the much hyped Inception.
It’s basically a heist movie. In fact imagine Oceans Eleven only instead of humour there’s extra grittiness and instead of a casino, there’s dreams and instead of a closely guarded vault there’s a closely guarded secret. Also there’s an ex girlfriend mucking stuff up and a rich and powerful mark to take down. Same movie see. Only Inception is much, much better and quite innovative (assuming you haven’t read any cyberpunk). Beyond that, I think it’s best to keep well away from spoilers – everything I’ve mentioned is set up in the first 20 minutes or so!
So far, Incpetion is the best movie I’ve seen this year. And I’ve seen Kick @ss, so that’s saying something!

Give it a go, you know you want to :)
I've seen it too - and it was awesome - really enjoyed it.

I nearly forgot to mention I'd watched The Expendables. Probably I forgot due to having to concentrate so hard on not falling asleep. If you're really into lots of violence you might cope, but then I like funny violence, or violence deliberately used for shock factor, or artistically choreographed violence - this was none of these, just people endlessly fighting without humour or artistic merit, which I found pretty dull. The plot was ok, would probably made a good 30 minute TV show, easily achieved by cutting out an hour of fighting.
Kevin and I went to see Scott Pilgrim vs The World on my birthday. I knew virtually nothing about it because I saw one commercial, saw Michael Cera was the lead, and promptly tuned it out. Which actually worked in my favor because going to see this without knowing anything about it made it that much better. I knew nothing, so everything was a surprise.
Considering that this was an Edgar Wright movie, I'm surprised I didn't pick up on it sooner because I love him so very much. (He directed/wrote my much loved SotD and Hot Fuzz, as well as Spaced for those who do not know.) It was total brain candy all the way through. The crowd I saw it with was really enthusiastic, and cheered, clapped, and laughed at all the right moments. It was a full blown entertainment experience.
Highly Recommended, just don't sit too close. They had considered at one point making it 3D, but then wisely decided that the movie was WAY too busy for that to be anything other than a surefire way to make the entire audience vomit from motion sickness. There's so much going on that you need to sit a little bit back to take it all in. We got to the theater kind of late, so we were pretty close to the front and it was intense.
If you're a comic book/game/plain ol' nerd you'll really appreciate this one.
Last night I sat through "Village of the damned" the 1995 re-make of the original by John Carpenter. It wasnt very good.... but wasnt as bad as I was expecting either!

I've watched re-runs of "Dragnet" on Hulu all week...I never get tired of hearing Jack Webb say, "This is the city...Los Angeles, California...I work here...I carry a badge"......Ben

I saw it last night and thought the opposite. The plot was drivel, but the action scenes were really well choreographed and edited. Overall, the film was... okay.
I preferred the A Team, which I saw on holiday last week. It wasn't really the A Team, but it was a decent enough action movie with a few nicer character moments. I probably wouldn't have bothered going to see it at the flicks if it hasn't been called 'The A Team'. One to wait for the DVD on, if you haven't got around to seeing it yet. You'll enjoy it, but not THAT much!
Really looking forward to Scott Pilgrim. It opened this weekend I think, over here.
Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are appearing in a non Edgar Wright road trip movie called 'Paul'. I'm not sure when it's due out, but looks like it could be reasonably entertaining.
Not sure drivel is really the opposite of ok-for-30-minutes-of-telly, there's not enough difference for them to be opposites! I'm definitely in full opposition to well choreographed & edited action scenes though!
Well, I watched Tron last night. Hadn't seen it for about 20 years, so didn't really remember much about it other than a vague suspicion that it was shit.
Turns out that I was correct! :)
That said it was bad in a good way. The groundbreaking special effects were awful - but then it was pretty much the first movie to experiment with cgi. The plot was kinda ropey and the script, which was all about programming had clearly been written by someone who knew nothing about programming!
That said, I'm now curious to see what this year's sequel will do...
