The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
So I watched the first half of How The West Was Won last night - it was... um...
So it had Jimmy Stewart and Henry Fonda and George Hannibal Peppard and John Wayne in it. None of them saved it from being a tiresome overlong load of old balls though. Sorry.
I don't think I'll be watching the second half...
To be fair though, it's not the movie, it's me. As part of the MTV generation I like my movies to trip along at a reasonable pace and back when they made these sweeping epics (1962, I think), they just didn't make 'em like that! Also the stereotypes made me cringe (although again - they probably weren't such cliches back then) and the acting from anyone who wasn't in the list of stars above was appalling - and some of the ones in the list weren't so great either.
So yeah... Probably won't be recommending that to anyone...
It was a good, but not a great film. The ending left me feeling kind of flat. I don't really know why, or what I was expecting, but it sort of felt like a cop out and a half assed way to end it. Overall, it was enjoyable, and I'd recommend it. It did prompt some interesting discussion, so it has that going for it.
It also has Kevin Spacey Robot asking if Sam wanted hot sauce on his beans which for no logical reason made me laugh for a good 20 minutes.
I snatched a couple of hours to watch Inglorious Basserds recently, and it was very good. Vintage Tarentino - doesnt have any surprises from that point of view but he does it so well - well worth a watch

No movies for me this week...I'm watching all 117 episodes of "M Squad", a great detective series from the late fifties and the only one where Lee Marvin was in a starring role...I learned something new about him this week; I had known he was decorated for battle as a Marine in WWII, but I didn't know his sciatic nerve was severed when he was wounded......Ben

things have changed a bit since then... but not much, strangely. Cop shows still follow the same formula whether you're watching M Squad, Columbo or The Mentalist.
That one is from the second season...I haven't gotten to that one yet...The remastered DVD's are a lot better quality than the YouTube version...One of the great things about the series is the Count Basie score in each episode......Ben

Kick Ass was a very, very excellent movie. It basically starts off with a kid deciding that, despite a lack of super powers, special skills or any other talent that might help him, he's gonna become a super hero. Obviously he gets his ass kicked and it all goes downhill from there, all accompanied by a rockin' soundtrack. The movie has an interesting history, starting life as a self promoted comic (one of the more creative examples of viral advertising) by Scottish writer Mark Millar and ending up as one of the more controversial movies of the year. I mean, who wants to hear a ten year old kid using the C work and butchering henchmen in vast quantities? Meeee!!!
if you haven't seen Kick Ass yet, I strongly urge you to. It's one of the best movies so far this year!
Clash of the Titans was a terrible disppointment on the other hand. Considering it was in 3D, the movie felt decidedly 2 dimensional. None of the characters were fleshed out and the monsters were pretty much the same monsters that have been appearing in video games since Doom.
If you feel like going to see this film... watch the original on DVD instead. It's way better. I didn't realise it came out in 1981 though - I thought it was older then thet - late sixties or something! Ho hum.
I heard that Clash of the Titans sucks as a movie, but makes an EPIC heavy metal video. Watch it again with your ipod on, and enjoy a totally different experience. I plan on waiting for the DVD to do that ;)
Kick Ass is on my MUST SEE IMMEDIATELY list. Which probably means I'll miss it in theaters and have to wait until Netflix has it. ;)
I've been so involved with watching Pornacus (Spartacus) on Starz and listening to the "Sword of Truth" books on tape (well, mp3) that I haven't had much time to watch any real movies.

Yes, Spartacus was great as is anything with Kirk Douglas in it...I'll have to find a copy of it...I watched Heat again last night, another great flick......Ben

"Action in the North Atlantic"...Great action flick from 1943...Starring Humphrey Bogart, Raymond Massey and in one of his first roles, Robert Mitchum against the backstabbing Nazi navy...I won't spoil it for you by telling you who won, let it be a surprise......Ben

Last night I did watch "The Disappearance of Alice Creed" a little British independant film with a cast of just three. It was .... alright. It promised much more than it delivered, all three actors put in a good turn and the story was interesting and twisty enough, just the direction left it a little flat. Bit of a shame really, this little character pieces are generally right up my street.
We watched the new Sherlock Holmes movie. I wasn't really expecting much because while I love Robert Downey Jr, and Jude Law, the whole "Holmes as a street fighter" made me cock an eyebrow. It actually was a very good movie. The action wasn't nearly as out of place as I thought it would be, and there were a lot of laughs. I don't like how they ended it though. I hate when movies end open...

I'll wait for it to turn up on the moooooovie channel then. Shame - it had potential. Ah well... Iron Man 2 it is then...

He does refer to getting fights in the stories a fair bit. It just never happens 'on stage' as it were! Except at the Riechenbach falls, of course.
So this weekend, we donned our 3D glasses and headed out to the cinema to see Dances with Wol... no... Last of the Samu... no, that's not right either. Avatar. That's it, Avatar! You can tell the difference because the Native Americ er Samuar um alien dudes are BLUE!
So I'm not the only one thinking Avatar is a remake of Dances with Wolves!
