Covers

Right then. It's time to talk about covers. Covers of the musical variety.

I don't wanna hear about the crap ones though. I wanna hear about the unusual or awesome ones.

Here's some that amuse me:

But pretty much anything by Me First and the Gimme Gimmes is good, since all they do is covers smile

Oops I lied biggrin

I fully admit I love this cover purely because it's hilarious to hear Scott Weiland go "who's your daddy.. is he rich like me?" Don't know why... but it cracks me up.

"Time of the Season" by Big Blue Missile with Scott Weiland

Heh, as soon as I walk away from my computer I always seem to think of another one...

Don't think I can embed this one, but it's worth checking out I think...

Erasure's version of Peter Gabriel's Solsbury Hill

Just for the benefit of those of us too stupid to know and not embarrassed to show it, why is a video of a song called a "cover"?...hmm...Ben

It's not the video that makes it a cover Ben.  A cover is when a band performs someone else's song. For instance the video directly above is Uncle Kracker performing a song that was recorded in the 70's by Dobie Gray. Above that is Metallica performing Bob Seger/Van Morrison's "Turn the Page".  aww

OMG! I just remembered one of the greatest (for its incredible cheeziness) covers of all time!

Steve and Eydie doing a lounge version of Black Hole Sun... yes, you read that right biggrin

Dream Theater doing Master of Puppets (live)

Little disappointing tho... usually Labrie is a better singer than that. Sounds like he was having a rough tour. But the band totally nailed it.

Yeah that's awesome ... "Embedding disabled by request" .... ;)

I never thought I'd say this but ... ahem .. "that was a bit too hippy for me"

That said, it did pick up from 2:02 onwards ....

The end is why I love it so. Bear McCreary's stuff is awesome.

I swapped the unembeddable video for another one.
