"But we have made it clear on numerous occasions that children would NOT be removed from a family environment just because of a weight issue."

Yet the entire article wants to imply that this is exactly why.

I am going to hope that weight was not the only issue here... but then it begs the question, if the situation would have been so "horrific" for the newborn, why not take the other children as well?

Something doesn't add up here, but if they are being punished for being fat by having their family torn apart something has gone completely wrong.  I don't care what your opinion is on fat people.

This seems to be about as far from unbiased reporting as it's possible to get. I vote propoganda! Goddam Commies.

That is quite awful. Nice to see the authorities starting to take the threat of obesity in the young seriously though...

I dont know mate - there has been some pretty high profile cases recently where the authorities knew children were at risk, did nothing and the child died. I think parents have a duty of care to their children and if they are unwilling or unable to live up to that, the state should step in.

At which time, all worldly goods except what is necessary to work and earn a living should be taken from the unwilling parents to support the cost of raising their kids...The welfare tap can be cut off at this point...They should also be neutered to prevent the problem from arising again...Ben

Apparently they've been given the baby back, but all the other kids are now in care. Interesting logic.

Maybe they have to wait until the weight becomes a problem or summit?
