The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
I had a idea after reading the Indy thread.... just which charactors in movies do you think are dead sexy? not the actors/actresess.. but the people they are protraying....
Hm.... I'll start with....
Winona Ryder playing Susanna Kaysen in Girl, Interrupted :3
I genrally like Winona is most stuff as shes cute as hell... but the charactor she plays in this movie was great and i could defently relat alot to her.
Christina Ricci playing Amanda in Anything Else
Again i really like Christina.... :3 *coff* anyway her charactor was pritty nasty in this movie really... demanding but completly fickle, she'd be the worst girlfriend... but its so easy to see her from the point of view of her boyfriend and why he puts up with her! Shes adorable. Only Woody Allan could make someone like her.. hehe....
I always thought the Balrog from Fellowship of the Ring was pretty hot.
Sorry. Couldn't help it.
Funny really. Because my thinking is generally fairly systemic, I tend to have something of a detatched attitude to characters in the movies. Obviously I appreciate their aesthetic assets, as it were, but I don't see them as real people, I see them as actors playing a part - and therefore don't fancy any of them.
It does but its a shame if its true because it implies that you are unable to believe sufficiently in any character portrayal to empathise with the character.
Note: it is my thesis that this is one of the problems with Hollywood superstars - Arnie is Arnie no matter what film he's in.
I agree with Santa. People fall in love with book/film characters all the time. Shows a stark lack of empathy from the Jammie king there - didn't he say he is a systemiser anyway?
My first book crush was probably Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables.....(what can I say, I was a sheltered child) and/or Gilbert Blythe.
thats what happens when you can't act in the first place, you end up playing yourself in every movie, just with a different job and family. Sandler is kind of the same way, but he is at least funny as hell.

So true. There are very few actors out there that are really convincing in their roles. Except possible Canoe Reeves, one of the finest actors of our time (ahem). I appreciate fine acting - and my lack of empathy with screen characters certainly doesn't make me enjoy the movie any less.

I'm stark. Yeah, whatever. I don't think I have a huge problem empathising with real people - I'm quite nice in real life! Now other people empathising with me... that's a different story! Nobody understands me. It's just not fair!

hehehe - Keanu Reeves?
Is Canoe Reeves his watersports loving brother?
sorry to take the piss, but I couldn't resist.
There must be an actor playing a role in some film somewhere where you actually beleived in them?, that somewhere out there in the world there could be a person just like that?
Martin Sheen in Apocalypse Now? Ewan McGregor in Trainspotting?

Actors. Playing a part. For cash.
But that's not to say that they don't play the part in a completely believable fashion. And of course there are people in the world that are just like the characters they're playing. So any empathy I experienced would be for the real people like the ones on screen rather than the ones that are actually on screen. Take Al Pacino's performance in Serpico, for example. Absolutely fantastic - probably one of his best roles. Based on true events, the character he played really existed (more or less). I don't feel sorry for Al. I feel sorry for the guy on whom his character was based. I come from the Brechtian school of thinking - the actors are there to demonstrate.
er
I don't think I've ever seen Trainspotting. I really should make the effort.
I tend to like Jonny Depp in movies, (not that I am attacted to him, continuing the thought on actors that can't act). True he always plays nut jobs but he plays them so very well. Did anyone see Finding Neverland? That was a very good film and he was not entirely nuts.

Ah, but I think thats the original point of this thread - Lite doesn't want to know if you fancy the actor, but rather if you've got the hots for the character he/she plays. So forget about fancying Gina Davies in Thelma and Louise - do you fancy Louise? (or was she Thelma - regardless)
You must have finished watching a film and thought 'wow, she's perfect' and had those butterflies in the tummy crush feelings?

Yep. She's the girl for me!

Um. No.
Sorry.

I'll let Copp answer that one.

Hmm. I may have said something along those lines. But remember that that particular movie was made by a professional heart-string tugger. And as I said - it's not the guys in the movie I feel sorry for, it's the guys in real life who actually went though that!
God. I'm being psychoanalysed.
Oh... I should cast my verdict on the various hot chicks above. Yes. They're all very hot - except Winona, who annoys the crap out of me and the Bonham Carter chick who's just too damn skinny.
hrm? in that movie wasnt she a nasty money grabbing sluty type girl ?
Not my type of girl at all.... them type of girls always break your heart! (or so movies tell me, since i'm not rich or that pritty, I have no experence in such things)
Er, not chundering, no. She's pretending to choke on food, so I guess that wasn't the hottest moment...

No, she was trying to be, but it turns out she wasn't. She ends up marrying the dude and buying back his bar for him with her money.
