The full article is on the Telegraph website.  Apparently the best way to deal with poor performance is to lower the standards.  you'll not the bit later on in the article that states that due to poor grades, the pass mark of many exams has been lowered over the last few years.  I wish my boss would take the same attitude!

I'm disappionted that no-one piked up on my bad speling in the original post.  I expected the piss to be taken in mercyless fashion.

While, in general, I think to harp on about falling grades and bad spelling is the result of pointless, incorrect and boring snobbery,     


.....I must confess to spending far too much time scribbling out gross spelling errors on my students' essays.


Still, I reserve the right to call JDK a snob.  Snob.

And another thing... if you spend your time correcting other people's spelling, then you clearly put more value on it than you are admitting to in your vote.  So quite frankly, your opinion is suspect.

i noted your spelling mistake when i read it

i read about this the other day and quite frankly it makes me cross, darn children getting away with whatever they want - i remember the days when i got sent out of the classroom for cheating on my spelling tests, now the teacher probably gets sent out for trying to give one
