Crossbow please

Officials defend bear kill

MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin wildlife officials are defending their decision to shoot a cornered bear in La Crosse.

The 300-pound black bear wandered into Myrick Park on June 27. A crowd followed it with video cameras until it climbed a tree.

Wildlife officials say the crowd ignored orders to disperse and the bear grew more agitated. When it looked like it was going to leave the tree, officers had to open fire because the animal threatened public safety.

Some in the crowd complained officials should have tranquilized it. But bear scientist Mike Gappa says it's tough to knock out a bear. Tranquilizers can take up to 15 minutes to work and could have driven the bear into a dangerous thrashing fit as it fought the drugs.

So, to summarise:

F*cking idiots follow a bear around with video cameras.
Bear climbs a tree to escape f*cking idiots.
F*cking idiots continue to harrass bear in tree.
Bear gets a bit agitated because f*cking idots are harassing it.
Police shoot bear because it might hurt f*cking idiots.
F*cking idiots complain that police shot bear.

Does anyone think that the police perhaps had their guns pointed the wrong way?

Not much gets me too riled up these days... but idiots feeding or harassing wildlife until that animal is deemed a "public menace" and needs to be killed really pisses me off. We have a house in Upstate New York and there's a bear problem in the area. Why? Because people think its cute to leave food out for them. So they get bold and now these bears have no problem coming onto the proch of any given house looking for nibbles. One even crashed through the post office trying to get to the Chinese Food place next door. That bear was killed, and countless others are on the hitlist because people don't know how to fecking listen.

It makes me want to put the animal in a pit with them and let nature take its course....

grrrrrrrrrrrr

idiots

Sorry Stead, on this occasion I think you and your trusty crossbow can step down and take a well-earned break.

It's fair to say that most of my smileys will look familiar to folks from other forums...
