New Superman Movie

So do you think the guy is a clone of Chris Rereves?

That's pretty darn impressive.  Apparently they've gone to the effort of recreating the Daily Planet Office exactly as it was in the earlier movies as well.  I recall seeing a few pictures of the Kent farm and Clarkie's speceship on the net, too.  they were pretty faithful to the originals.

That's what you get for having a fan making the movie.  We know it's gonna look the part...

Here's the first photo I've seen of the man in costume:

Wellllll...

I think it looks ok.  Supe's costume was always pretty naff, anyway... it was just the fact that he was Superman that made him cool!

Chances are that it'll look a bit lest bright and plasticy on the big screen.  It'll be great.  just go with it.

Up, up and awaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy!

I think his hair is really really funny...

His colours are ok... but if your using blue and brown the brown should be made deeper and the blue lighter so they match better.. *sighs* americans....

*coff*

From the description I read of the costume, they didn't go SO bright with the costume, but it shoudln't be as muted looking as that. Like the blue was a strong blue but not BRIGHT blue, and the cape was Scarlet, and the belt more gold. But that looks all brown.

Guess we'll see when the final deal comes out.

Cant say I dislike it - the original moview colours were a bit camp, mostly driven by the comics that used light shades of colours in the old days because it was cheaper -

I think the "Royal" colours are pretty good and I dont interpret the reds as browns - they are dark red tis all -

The texturing is an interesting touch as are boots and the scarlet inside the cape is a good contrast -

I think it will look even better with "treatment" within the film - just 15 months and we'll see - not long is it?

Of course, more important than any discussion about Superman, is the rather more imminent Batman movie:

So cool...

I'm not so sure the world needs another Batman movie.

The first one was great - and then they just butchered the franchise.

Who is supposed to be Batman this time around? I'm afraid to look.

Hah!

You can forget the nasty butcherisation of the franchise by the Scumacher bloke.  This is gonna be great.  They're restarting the franchise without bat-nipples.  Check out the amazingly cool trailer.

Batman begins will indeed ROCK - no nasty pink lights on cars or any of that other nonsense - this is straight down the line "Rusty insignia" early days batman rocking - I hope...

Sin City is gonna be great.  I'm a big fan of Frank Miller.  And his Sin City comic is one of the coolest things on the planet.  I have high expectations of this movie.

Not sure when It comes out over here.

The one with Marv and Goldie?

I started collecting 'em when they first came out about 10 years ago.  I've been re-reading 'em recently.  So cool.

um. yes i think so... Goldie was a dancer or something :)

Cool!, i wanna borrow! I dont really have any comics... apart from a few random Sandman ones. Did you read the spin off series 'Death'? Its pritty cool... the high cost of living was the first one i read.. then i went back and read the sandmans.

Do I sound as geeky as I think i do?

Death is cool.

I have the full Sandman run in trade paperback form along with pretty much everything else that Gaiman's ever done.  Excellent stuff.  Same with Fank Miller's post Dark Knight Returns (possibly the best comic on the planet) stuff.  You should be able to get it all at your local library... but if you have problems, I'm sure I can arrange something!

I'm afraid the geekiness is coming through pretty strongly here.  From both of us.  Hopefully no-one'll notice.  After all, they were going on about Superman's red boots earlier on!

Akira.  Katsuhiro Otomo's masterpiece.  Have you read the whole thing or just the first book?

Domu, by the same guy is also cool.  He also has a movie out this year called Steamboy.

You haven't seen the movie version of Akira?  My god, girl.  Sort your life out!  It's the seminal cyberpunk movie!  You also need to check out 'Memories' and 'Metropolis' on dvd.  Do it now.

I have 2 copies of Domu - I forget why.  What's it worth?

It ain't as long.  It's about the size of Akira book 1.  But it's as good as Akira.

See the amazon reviews here.
