I saw this and thought of Stead...

For the first few lines, anyway...

I Don't Recognize Your Union: A Marriage Manifesto
I no longer recognize marriage. It's a new thing I'm trying.

Turns out it's fun.

Yesterday I called a woman's spouse her boyfriend.

She says, correcting me, "He's my husband,"
"Oh," I say, "I no longer recognize marriage."

The impact is obvious. I tried it on a man who has been in a relationship for years,

"How's your longtime companion, Jill?"
"She's my wife!"
"Yeah, well, my beliefs don't recognize marriage."

Unfortunately for Stead, it then dissolves in to some stuff about gay people and their right to get married, which I suspect Stead doesn't really care about at all.

But the first bit was fun.

That is funny - I suspect I wont get away with it. In the same way as when I group God, fairies, Santa and other myths all together - people frown at me.

Tell them you don't believe in frowning!
