It depends where you work Shazzy. I get six sick days a year, but if I'm out sick for more than 5 days in a row, company policy is that I escalate to long term leave insurance, which is tricky, because people don't like to pay for nothing...


My vacation pool works so that I have 28 floating days, but I have to burn 7 or 8 on mandatory company holidays, like Christ's birthday, 4th o' July, etc... So I end up with ~20, or four weeks after that. And I burn every last one of them! (my vacation days do not roll over if I do not use them)


It's not so bad.
