How much can I fit in my tub?

I have a tub of small change under my desk at work. We've been supplying it with coppers and 5ps for about a year and now it's full. I'm going to count it some time this week. How much do you think it'll come to? We've had guesses from £10 to £17 in the office.

Here's a picture. The tub stands approximately 21cm (or just under 9 inches) high and is quite heavy.

Best guess gets a (virtual) speedboat!

Two questions:£10 to £171.) How much is that in real money?
2.) Why can't I find that funny looking "L" on my keyboard?

confuse...Ben

About $15-$20. Approximately. Sort of.

You have an inferior brand of keyboard that doesn't have all the keys on it. You should upgrade.

Thanks, that's what I get for buying this cheap, crappy foreign-made stuff...I'll buy American next time...

I'll guess 18.56 (you'll have to imagine the funny "L" in front of the amount)...smile...Ben

That's a dangerously high estimate there, Aodan! At least you have a proper keyboard, though!

Every time we turn our jar in I'm shocked at how much is in there.. so I figured I would lean towards the higher amount.

I've counted about £8 of it. Quite a lot to go. Anyone who guessed in the £10-15 range is gonna be disppointed! I was surprised ahow little space £8 took up! Sadly I'm not back to work again 'til monday and I forgot to bring it home with me, so you may have to wait a bit for your speedboat.

I told you.. and you thought I guessed too much.. looks like I may have guessed too little.

When we emptied out our change jar a few months ago, we had enough for a digital camera and then some.

So I counted a little more today. The tally is now at £16 and the jar is a little under two thirds full.

This suspense is murder! I should string this out over the week with daily updates and keep you all on the edge of your seats!

There's a machine you can just pour it into at Morrisons - they charge you 10% but saves you counting it all out and lugging it to the Bank :)

I don't know if it's the same there, but some of those machine's offer you gift certificates to use at places like amazon.com and then you don't have to pay their fee.

No. The machines here nick 10% of your cash and then jam up meaning that you spend an inordinate amount of time waiting for an 'engineer' to come and hit it with a piece of wood thereby negating the benefit of using the damn thing in the first place.

Still, it's more fun this way!

Looks like exactly £46 to me.

You should spend it all on sweets ... and then share them with the rest of us.

And by "sweets" I mean "beer" ... and "rest of us" I mean "me" ... obviously

Whatever it is, that's what my new guess is...I'll also need to borrow someone's credit card to fill the tank on my new virtual speedboat...ashamed...Ben

Sean Connery comes with the speed boat, so you can use his.

The final total was £39.91. So Aodan wins with the best pre-count estimate!

And here is your speedboat:

Okay...

The final total was £39.91. So Aodan still wins with the best pre-count estimate!

And here is your speedboat:
