The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
Watched the Underworld trilogy over the last couple of days. I'd seen the first two a bunch of times and I liked them.. but I really liked the third one... might have something to do with the lack of guns and the lots of Lucian.. mmmm.
Interesting that all the bad guys from #1 were the good guys and all the good guys from #1 were bad guys.
I'm also most of the way through the Terminator series... Saw the last one in the theater, so I rented the first three from Netflix and the third (the only one I haven't seen and the one I heard was total garbage) shall be watched today.

"Yes 4 was good. Definitely see it on the big screen as it's a lot of action and not too much else lol. They get points for an interesting visual film, but the plot was about as substantial as wet toilet paper. Still, it was worth a watch. "
Sorry! Hit edit post not quote - my bad!

It's a shame about T4 as the first two are all time classics. I was hoping for something a bit more cerebral than a plain old action movie (much as I enjoy plain old action movies), which was pretty much what the third one was. Still... I shall enjoy it when I see it, maybe this weekend!
Well I saw Terminator Salvation this afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed it! It had lots of free flowing testosterone, explosions and robots in it! It paid appropriate tribute to previous entries in the franchise while remembering to add new elements, something that the previous movie forgot to do!
It felt an awful lot like the 'unplugged' parts of the Matrix movies, with dirty men running away from nasty robots, only much, much better.
It won't go down was one of the all time great movies. It was better then Wolverine, though.
Also, I was lucky enough to see Burn After Reading last night. It's a Coen brothers movie (No Country For Old Men, The Big Lebowski & Fargo) and was very much in their established style. Brad Pitt turned in a very amusing (and possibly gay) gym instructor, supporting Geoge Clooney who was playing what was for him a decidedly atypical character. The always fantastic John Malckovich (didn't he 'retire' a few years ago?) also starred.
Best scenes took place in Langley where a pair of increasingly bewildered CIA agents monitor events. Oh... except for the scenes with Brad Pitt in, which were damn funny.
I watched Blood Diamond this evening - it's been sitting in its lovefilm jacket on top of my dvd player for about 6 months. Not bad. DiCaprio's Zimbabwean accent was pretty consistent (which worries some people, but not me - I didn't even mind Costner's american Robin Hood!). The story managed to keep moving along despite it being reasonably simple. Djimon Hounsou, playing Solomon Vandy was a very good supporting actor. I was pleased they didn't go all mushy when the leading lady turned up.
Not as good as Hotel Rwanda (see a link here at all?) though which I watched about a week ago. Don't getme wrong, I'm not into civil wars or bloodshed movies normally, but I'd always intended to see this at the cimena beacuse I like Don Cheadle, but I didn't get there. Don was fabulous - absolutely spellbinding. The horros of war were, horrific, but done in a way to avoid being gratuitous. I admit to cringing a few times, but it was a fabulous watch. Amazing story, showed the true horrors of civil conflict. Give it a year and I'll be watching this one again.
Ok, last one! Presumed Innocent an oldie I know - last night, with a glass of wine - and boy did I need it. I've seen it before, many years ago and had forgotten the twist at the end so though it deserved another viewing as I remembered enjoying it then. But it hasn't aged well in my book. It needed to be a lot quicker fire, there was too much waiting around for the next line to be delivered <yawn> Great to see Bradley Whitford & John Spencer teaming up as Harrison Ford's helpers ahead of The West Wing though. Verdict - I won't be wasting my time on this again.

I watched this movie, and to be honest, I'm still not entirely sure of what I watched... it had some amusing moments, but overall I was left scratching my head.
I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button the other day...I didn't know it was as long as it was (about 3 hours), but I suppose a movie like that has to be long. It was ok. The visual effects, and how they created the transformation from old to young was pretty decent, but I didn't like how it ended. I also didn't really feel anything for Cate Blanchett's character. The "old" Cate was nearly impossible to understand (I had to turn the subtitles on because she spoke so low and raspy), and her character was just kind of.. meh. She wasn't very nice, she didn't really have a whole lot of redeeming qualities other than the fact that Benjamin loved her. I love Cate Blanchett, but not in this. If you've got an afternoon to kill, it's worth a watch. There were some funny moments, some sweet moments, and as I mentioned before, teh visual effects were worth a look. But, overall, I wasn't really wow'd by it.

Seconded!
Last night, I decided to sit through Escape to Victory - a 1981 WWII film about prisoners of war who get roped into playing the Germans at football whilst trying to escape.
It stars, Michael Caine - Stallone - Pele and various others
It wasnt great - but to be honest it wasnt as bad as I was expecting. I made it to the end, which is better that I thought would happen!
One for the bottom of the pile of DVD's to get round to watching.

Am I right in thinking it was based on a short story. I kinda got the impression from the trailer that there was a good reason it was only a short story...
How was Mr Pitt's performance? I've always considered him to be a decent actor when he puts his mind to it. He knocks out a lot of decidedly average stuff, but every now and then he plays a blinder!
I'd say he did fairly well. I don't usually give him much credit... and that's not entirely fair. The movie itself was kind of.. eh.. but he did well with the material. The humor (when there was) was delivered properly, and I will admit for feeling really horrible for him when Daisy (Cate Blanchett) turned him down at one point. In all I don't know that I would say he was spectacular but definitely good.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen had the benefit of my attention at the weekend. It was a lot of fun. The plot was nonsensical and most of the action was fast paced and confusing. There were many amusing moments. The world nearly ended.
There's a good review of it here that sums it up for me!
Whereas the first was pretty entertaining, with a great bad guy, and the second was... well... not as good as the first... this one was dull, predictable and decidedly unmemorable.
Fortunately, it was on the telly, so it disn't cost me anything.
On the plus side, Love Film have just sent me Steamboywhich I've been meaning to watch for AGES! Really looking forward to it!
Based on the first one which was miserable, I didnt watch the sequels.
I watched the remake of the "The day the earth stood still" - with Keanu "I'm made of oak" Reeves - not good at all - no suspense, unlike the original which is still cool.
I also watched "The Rocker" with the chap from the American Office. Only funny if you're a musician probably, lots of 'band' jokes - but that was about it. Followed the formula but could have been worse.

Well tonight I watched Gran Torino and it was brilliant.
I am a bit delicate at the mo but that is only the second film ever that's drawn a tear ...
OK, both probably due to circumstance ... this down to certain resonance, the last due to misscarriage ... whatever though to trigger such a response from a neaderthal like me has to be high praise.
Well tonight I watched Gran Torino and it was brilliant.
Cheers for the rec Mr Stead
I enjoyed it too - glad you liked it mate - I thought Eastwoods character was brilliant and some of the supporting cast (considering how young they were) did a decent job keeping up with him.
I watched the 2006 "Trailer Park Boys - The Big Dirty" movie recently. If you havent seen any of the 7 seasons of this Showcase original series from Canada you wont recognise it.
Its an aquired taste but I've always liked some of the subtle script tricks and recurring themes they've built over time. The movie can be watched as a stand alone (it occurs in a different timeline to the series) but I wouldnt recommend it (lots of in jokes) but if you do decided to start from the beginning its worth the journey.
