Official Zimbabwe Election Protest Thread

OK - so in the same way as I bad mouthed Winehouse on here in the hope that she would 'google' herself and come across my views - I thought I'd start a thread about old President Nutcase Mugabe in Zimbabwe and his frankly shameful handling of the country and the elections.

I'd also like to add that I am deeply disappointed in the governments of the world who, on one hand will label a President of one country a tyrant and use this as part of the reason to overthrow him but on the other will say that resolving the Zimbabwe problem with outside force is incomprehensible. Additionally the UK opposition parties should be rebuked for supporting this view.

Mugabe is a nutcase - we all know that - but the grip he has on his people the devasting impact he's had on the economy of Zimbabwe and the way he has held on to power far longer than he should have is a disgrace and I for one hope he catches a really nasty case of Herpes and he shrivels up and dies.

That's pretty much all I have to say on this - feel free to vote on this thread because the people of Zimbabwe cant

He's a nutter who needs to be deposed, but I'm not sure our past record with such things qualifies us to do it.

Don't forget that almost every country in the Western world had one or two of their own special nutcases who had to be disposed of in the past. That's societal evolution for you! The revolution is coming, man!

I agree he needs to go, however the UK and US should NOT be the ones to remove him. Remember that the UK effectively put him there in the first place.

It really is up to the surrounding nations to force a Police action and remove him.

He is, however, a genocidal, egotisical, maniacal ... oh, wait .. that's Stead ;)

I would not object to Mugabe contracting something particularly nasty. Any got any polonium?

Was thinking more of the UN backed by NATO rather than us and the US - quite right its not down to us to sort everything out. But once a leader of a country (no matter who supported him historically) achieves this level of crazy (including the killing of tens of thousands of his own people) I think it becomes a global issue not just an African one.

Oh, I'm agreeing with Stead again! I may have to go resurrect an Amy Winehouse thread!
What I don't get is why Western leaders are so against assassinations? Suddam was allegedly in the sites of an SAS gun many years ago, but they wouldn't give the order to shoot - just think of how many civilian lives could've been saved if that trigger had been pressed. It's be a good way to get rid of Mugabe too.

I think you need unanimous agreement in the UN and NATO to take action like that. And guess what the French would vote!

Still... it's the way to go.

As for assasination, I think they were concerned that Saddam would simply be replaced by his even nuttier son or one of his even nuttier colleagues - I got the impression that he was one of the more liberal people in his little circle of friends!

Or you could just go the 1441 route and take the view that non-adherence allows for the possibility of military force - splitting opinion of the countries that voted for it.

That's the WMD one, right? Goes something along the lines of: If you don't let us look at your toys, we'll invade you?

Hiring a team of mercenaries is always the most cost-efficient route...There are always members of the tango's own team who are willing to join for the right price and they can also be eliminated after the fact...

If the plan fails, culpability can be denied and blame shifted to others...Then try again...

One shot, one kill...Any questions?...Ben

Don't forget to televise it...If a few up-and-coming would-be dictators can be encouraged to change their college major from world domination to something constructive like shining boots, we may not have to send organized teams to kill them thereby saving ammunition...

It's an economy thing...idea...Ben
