.. RockStar Games have finally released a patch for GTA4 which, apparantly, solves the multiplayer connectivity issues and the release notes contain an apology. Good times.
Unfortunately you won't be able to get that or the latest firmware tonight as the PSN is going down for scheduled maintainence. Bad times.
