The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
Don't get me wrong, I love Christmas. But... it's OVER 6 MONTHS away! It is TOO EARLY to be signing up for the work's Christmas do. In addition to which I really don't want to be shelling out around £100 (do, drinks, transport), plus money for a new outfit, to spend the evening socialising with people I see at work every day.
Then why bother?...When I scheduled the Christmas party for my employees, if they couldn't (or wouldn't) come to it, it was no big thing...They either wanted a free meal or not...No harm, no foul...Ben

Oh, trust me, I'd like a free meal! This is far from free, plus I will be hassled for not going. (& it's June for goodness sakes! Did I mention that it's only June?)
£100 is way too much to invest in what is guaranteed to be a dull eveining with dodgy food.
June is too early. July is too early, as is August, September and October. I may be slightly less resentful having Christmas shoved in my face during November, but I doubt it.
Unfortunately, the people who spend an entire year planning these things live in such small worlds that this is the pinnacle of their social year. To me, the office Christmas do is pretty much a non-event. I ususally go because it's a free meal, but I wouldn't fork out £100 and certainly wouldn't buy a new outfit especially for it!
Nope I'm with you JDK - I'll go if its free (or almost free) and if the meal sounds like it will be worth it - but if I have to pay for it and its gonna be processed turkey steaks in some crappy carvery somewhere then I'd have to sight a subsequent engagement.
My view of work doos is that they are just an evening spent trying to be nice to the people we spend all year bitching about...

If it makes you feel better, wiki says pedantry is often a symptom of high functioning autism. So you're probably just making fun of mentals. That's not nice, you know!
Well... you are quite bright and seem to be able to remember some stuff (like HTML) easily and at the same time you forget other things, like washing - so you could be a savant?

Ah! your overwhelming desire to be condescending at every opportunity has led you astray here dude - I was hoping you'd pick up on my reference to this Futurama episode
