Lane shut after cliff fall death



A major road in Bristol is still partially closed after the driver of a digger fell more than 30ft (9m) to his death from a cliff.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing his vehicle brake and skid before ploughing through a wall on the steep Bridge Valley Road on Wednesday afternoon.

The digger landed on A4 Portway below, which was then closed to allow police to make investigations.

The inbound bus lane remains shut till midday for carriageway repairs.

Dammit.

The road network around Bristol is so painfully inadequate that one closed road brings the entire city to a standstill! It took about an hour and a half just to get away from the centre - probably about 2 miles. And because it was raining a bit, everyone seemed to have lost any ability to drive normally, so there were people swerving all over the roads (in slow motion, obviously), braking suddenly, pulling out of side roads with no warning and forgetting to use their indicators!

I hate them all. I want sympathy, now please!

Personally I can't believe you're seeking sympathy because someone else died a gruesome death, which inconvenienced you. Therefore any insults would seem quite reasonable.

I was seeking sympathy because of the rubbish road network and all the other moronic road users that caused me to take 2 hours to get home. But you can insult me if you like.

It'll end in tears. You'll move in and he'll think you're great for about 5 minutes until you put a cup down too hard or make a noise he can't immediately identify...
