The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
I recall enjoying Ali when I saw it. I think it was the first movie that made me think that Will Smith had a decent actor inside him. he doesn't make many serious movies, but this was one of 'em and it was good.
How can you reel off a list of Michael Mann movies and leave out 'Heat'? Also... I think Alan Parker directed 'David Gale'... What was Mann's connection?
Collateral was cool, but Tom Cruise's beard and greyed hair were implausible.
Mann's connection was mostly a made up one on reflection - not sure why that was in my head!
'Heat' was 'OK' in my view - I dont see it as one of his masterworks - which is why I could reel off a list of movies and not include it - I also didnt include Miami Vice (shudder)
TC's hair was bizarre - but that was the only flaw in the film IMO

One of my favorite Michael Mann treatments is "Manhunter", with the first appearance of Dr. Hannibal Lecter...It was later remade as "Red Dragon" but I prefer the original (of course I'm a William Petersen fan anyway)...Ben

They're both good movies - Red Dragon has the benefit of a much higher budget, but as you say, the original had an edge that the remake kinda lacks.
Another Mann remake was 'Heat'... he re-made his own previous movie 'LA Takedown'. In this case, however, the budget and the presence of DeNiro and Pacino in the remake made the movie. There was nothing particularly wrong with LA TAkedown - it felt a bit like a budget TV movie, but the script was essentially the same (in some cases word for word).
Yep, "Heat" is one of my favorites and due for a replay...I'll look for "L.A. Takedown"...I just got my "Bogart Collection" in the mail today and am watching "Passage To Marseilles" right now...Ben

Over the last couple of weeks I watched all 78 episodes of the "Amos 'n' Andy" show (classic comedy) and all 17 episodes of "The Prisoner" (my favorite series) but those don't really count as movies...So today I watched "Badman" again...I was astounded once again at the range of Stead's emotions as he effortlessly shifted from sullen anger to infuriated annoyance...Tremendous acting display...
Susan, in her ingenue role, stole the scenes once more as the camera seemingly can't help but focus on her...More is expected from her in the future when Britain's child labor laws no longer apply to her and she can concentrate on her craft rather than her schoolwork...
Bravo to two stunning performances......Ben

This is very kind of you mate - much appreciated. We had a lot of run making the film - and it still freaks me out that people across the pond are watching it!
If you think of anyone else who might like to have a look - let me know and I'm sure we can set aside a few copies, at mine and JDKs personal discretion to send you to pass on :)

I can think of another forum where I post that it would be well received...Tell me how many copies you want to distribute for free and I'll put them up for grabs (don't overdo it if you can't afford it)...Ben

Aw, shucks, thanks Ben. Oh, excuse me please, my Algebra teacher's calling me...
Just to cap this thread off nicely, I'd just like to say that I finally got around to watching Cool Hand Luke which has been sitting on my sky box for a couple of months now. Very good stuff. Nice performances by most involved (with one or two exceptions). I did wonder where it was going about two thirds of the way through but it all came out good in the end!
