Playstation 3

Well I finally got to play my new PS3 and am totally blown away - even on a non HD TV the graphics are amazing.

I have the following games:

The Simpsons - which I have only played for five mins but looks like a lot of fun.
Kane & Lynch - which doesn't quite live up to the hype
Assasins Creed - Is just totally immense in everything from the scale to the attention to detail
Drake Uncharted - Wow, just wow! easily the best game I have played in about a year

How are the rest of you finding your new PS3s if you got one?

Mine's awesome. Add DazzaMoo to your friends list!

I've got Assasins Creed, which I've been playing pretty much constantly since yesterday. Also Kane and Lynch which hasn't been out of the box yet and Stead bought me Motorstorm so that he could thrash me at it!

Do any of you ps3 owners have a 360?
If so how does it compare?
I got a 360 last year, and playing the likes of assasins creed and call of duty 4 on the HD telly  makes me reluctant to get any other console!

No 360 here, but I did play on Stead's while he had one (he traded up for a ps3 in the end). Whilst I don't have a direct comparison - you'd have to play identical games on the two consoles to compare, my gut feeling is that they're similar, although the pS3 has a slight edge in terms of potential and presentation. It just seems slicker and prettier. I had no intention of getting a PS3 or 360 until I saw the PS3 in action.

That said, unless you're having trouble with your 360 I don't think that the difference is so great it's worth trading up. You still have most of the same games (including the upcoming GTA4 - very important) and the same pretty pictures, give or take!

For me I only traded because my 360 was a bit unstable and I wanted to play Gran Turismo when it finally comes out.

I dont think there is much in it between the two - so it comes down to which console exclusive titles you want I should think.

I do think the PS3 now represents better value for money with the blu-ray thingy built in though...

Here endeth the review....

Due to the advanced gaming capabilities of PCs in recent years I am addicted to spider solitare. In fact I may soon remove it from the lappie.

weirdface.gif my PS3 crashed half way through a game of motorstorm last night and when it restarted it wouldn't read any disks, apparently this is happening quite a lot I now have to wait until Monday for a replacement unit which is a bit of a bummer.

There is a lot of talk about this relating to a firmware upgrade on the Blue Ray drive!

Mine did the same thing yesterday - so I have to wait until Tuesday for a replacement, 'reconditioned' PS3 (which could have been anywhere) -

This will be my third ps3 the very first one I bought had a dead DVD drive when I bought it! - and there was me trading up from a 360 because the 360 was vulnerable to instability -

Quite annoying really! so all you PS3 owners on the board be aware if you're disc suddenly stops reading - its a known fault!

We went through three ps3s before we finally got one that actually did everything it was supposed to lol

The first one didn't work at all, the second one didn't play blu-ray, the third one I don't remember what the problem was, and finally Sony just gave us a brand new one lol (we'd been buying refurbs cuz Kevin wanted one of the older models)

We've got Guitar Hero III, Ratchet and Clank and a couple of others that I don't play but Kevin does. I was curious about Assassin's Creed.. it looked interesting.

It was very very cool - but now I think you'd get more out of GTA IV - the free roaming is better

I'll flog you if you like. wink.gif

GTA isn't for everybody. Assasins creed was very cool - very pretty to look at and played really nicely as well. It's especially good if you like your murders to be up close and personal. You should be able to swing a nice cheap copy - you won't be disappointed.

Also, you MUST get Lego Star Wars II. It's amazingly awesome. Lego Indy will be good too!

Damn straight ... although I'm now 94% complete and, tbh, my desire to get the last 6% is more than disolving ... at this point it's do the same thing AGAIN ... can't be arsed now.

Maybe I will in a month or so.

Is it a fully free roaming Solitaire with awesome power-ups and amazing next-gen graphics?
