Chocolate flavoured wine

Has anyone tried this?
Someone in here bought some at lunchtime and Im tempted to get a bottle on the way home. I think it was about £6 for a 50cl bottle, 15% abv, looks quite nice, but there's something about it I just dont trust.

Hmmm, I've had chocolate stout & chocolate ale, both of which were vile. I've had nice wines with a flavour of chocolate (in the same way they might have a flavour of blackberries, or cut grass) but think I'll give chocolate flavoured wine a miss unless I hear very good reports of it.
Why not wait for your colleague's opinion before buying? (& do let us know too!)

Now where's the fun in that?!
No, I'll get on on the way home and scoff it tonight.

Wait, the guy who bought it just told me its basically fortified wine with chocolate flavour in it.
This is shaping up to be a good night in smile.gif

I'll let you know tomorrow...

Does fortified wine mean that they've put extra crenulations in it?

I just had to look up crenulations, and that still doesn't make sense  confused

Crenulations or no, it'll probably make me sick.

They'd have had to apply for a license to crenulate if they did!

So it's basically cheap port with added flavourings? May I be the first to say "UGH!"?

That's possibly because I meant to type 'crenelations'. So close yet so far.... no.gif what a muppet I am...

Well there's my new thing I learnt today, I thought it was crenulate, I always assumed the battlements were the same as the leaf margins.

I did make a really interesting cocktail though (if you can call it that!)

voddy, glayva, cream soda, grenadine and fresh orange

not that good for a school night though

lol

if you want a real strange drink take the following test:

fresh orange juice and tia maria

Then come back and tell me it doesn't taste like orange smarties

my wife actually bought a bottle of it last night (going cheap in asda!)
and i tried it with fresh orange, only cos it was the only mixer I had,
i thought it wad kinda like orange smarties / terry's chocolate orange,

I've tried Tia Maria with bitter lemon which sounds odd but worked well.

I'm told that pouring cream over the back of a spoon onto the surface of a glass of Tia Maria creates amazing patterns... but I've yet to try this.
