This is Nobel Prize winner James Watson digging himself a nice deep hole:

And rather than climbing out of it, he then digs it deeper with:

Oops.

I think I know what he was trying to say, but he couldn't really have come up with a more inflammatory way to say it! Or it could just be the media twisting it round again!

There was a good debate on the radio this morning talking about genetic differences in people - there is no doubt that some people are pre-disposed to be 'better' at certain things than others. A guy sighted an example of racing a soon to be Olympic swimmer in a competiton and even though the Olympian was only 13 at the time it was very clear that he was naturally so much better than anyone else.

Thankfully though - this guy (who was the first man to ever read his own genome) went on to confirm that there is absolutely no evidence at all that race impacts intelligence, in fact he said from a DNA point of view - race doesnt exist!

hmm  Gee, thanks.  In my defence it's also a large part of my job.

There's just one thing Dr. Watson must have overlooked.
If blacks are less intelligent than whites, how does he explain the Nigerian internet scammers? biggrin

Hmm. Working in the field I do, I gotta go with Oprah on this one. It goes against the grain, agreeing with Oprah, but there it is!
