Thick Americans!

I'm thinking some people here need to apply for Stead's special online course, as a similar talent is definitely needed on the other side of the pond...

I'm sure thats down to selective editiing - they did a similar thing in the UK a few years ago when they asked questions like...

"What was the name of the lead character in King Kong?"

and people sat there trying to work it out...

The geography bit was a little scary though! wink.gif

Dude doesn't know which state Kentucky Fried Chicken is from...? Or where the Berlin Wall is...? Wow. confused

You know why they made the Berlin Wall? To keep Chuck Norris out. It failed, miserably. biggrin

It seems to me that the goal must've been to go out and speak with the dimmest wits that they could possibly find. You could probably do the same think in the UK, too, ya know. Oooh, another country beginning with a U... biggrin wink

Erm, who is Tony Blair, again? Isn't he that dude who advised the Queen to publicly mourn Diana's death? confused wink

Oh, don't get me wrong, I don't think for a minute all Americans are like that! For a start there's a lot of you (population wise, not personally!), so there's obviously going to be a lot of thick ones! I do think Stead needs to impart some crossbow knowhow to one or two of you though, so you can deputise for him.

I do have to take the bait from Stevo's post though: Where would we be without America*? Not in Iraq!

*Yeah, ok, so more George Bush than anything

I know that you can find people like that everywhere. And of course they were edited to look stupid.. but it doesn't change the fact that those things still came out of their mouths...

And while we're obviously not all like this, I know my fair share of those that are. I'm even related to some of them ... oof.

Stupid is contagious.

Anyone else notice how many of them had southern accents? Ahhh... sounds like a typical day in my neck of the woods ;)

Do woods have necks? You have to admit, it's a very odd phrase...

Apparently, they do.

"Originally the neck of the woods was a narrow strip of woodland connecting a larger area of woodland."

But you're right... still an odd phrase

ETA: On second thought, I don't live in the woods. Probably should change that to 'my branch of the everglades' :)

Yeah, I did a quick google for it, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive explanation as to why it means what it does!

What do you know about rudeness and dismissiveness, hmm? You wouldn't know rude dismissiveness if it rudely dimissed you right in your face at top volume! wink.gif

It depends on whether you're using a knob or a slider. I don't have a knob but my slider goes up and down! nod.gif

Ahem...
