... has died.

Extremely sad day. I heard it on the in store radio while I was out and actually went wobbly!

I'll miss him enormously ... he was the last person in radio, seemingly, who actually cared about music. I would love how his show would swing from Norwegian Death Metal to Middle American Folk and the to some bizarre soundscape. He was a joy to listen to and an inspiration.

Hengy, I am very sorry for your loss.  Unfortunately, not being a big radio listener myself (except for classic fm in the car) I have not experienced his expertise in that arena.

Not only did his own musical taste vary greatly but he introduced the world to some of the great bands (oh and Bon Jovi - but you cant always be right ) - he was the first person to ever play "I am the walrus" on the radio and was a delight to listen to on "Grumpy old men" -


Put simply if I could have chosen anyone on the planet to be my Dad (except for my dad obviously) I would have wanted John Peel.
