So - it turns out at the moment, because the people who work for me on my project are pretty good and they in turn are managing their people very well that em, well, cough ehum... I dont actually have anything to do really...
Oh, apart from issue a report once a week that takes about an hour...
So the question is, should I accept this as Karma giving me some time off to balance out the crazy 12 months I had up until April - or should I phone my boss and point out that I'm actually free to take on something else as well if she likes... ?
I'd love to hear the Jammie advice please! and have attached a poll accordingly!

I think it depends on how long you've had nothing to do for. If it's likely to be very short term, don't worry about it. If it's not, you don't want to find yourself in the position that someone else notices that you're doing nowt.
Always have something plausible that you could be doing and always turn over just enough random stuff that if someone asks you what you've been doing for the last 3 weeks, you can say 'oh this and that... look!'.
I didn't vote because the choices are incomplete...If you had a harrowing twelve months prior to April, you can use this time productively by analyzing why it was so rough...Look over your notes and write out a report on what could have been done differently to smooth the way...This may be beneficial to those following your footsteps...

Personally I'd be asking for more, not in the Oliver style of 'I have nothing left (to do) and I want more', but more in the way of 'I have some spare capacity at the moment, which may not last long, Ma'am, but I wouldn't want to waste such an opportunity to help you make inroads into your outstanding pile.' Major suckup I know

Well it turns out that I needn't have worried - due to circumstances outside of my control, one of the chaps has moved off the Project leaving me a man short at managerial level so I'm having to step in and cover him until I can find someone to take the strain... I've actually had to do some 'work' today - thats not on...

It was really quiet yesterday too...
You know, I'm with you on that! I try not to p1ss off the cosmos when I can help it - for instance I dont take the p1ss out of my car when I'm in it or near it because whenever I've done that in the past, its broken down on me very soon after!
Generally I just think God doesnt like me - but I cant believe that! He's probably just a bit jealous...
