I'm afraid to say I have just awoken from the worst nights sleeps I can remember for a very long time.
Well, that's not true.  I slept well enough, it's just my nightmare lasted the WHOLE night.
I woke this morning with rivers of tears still wet on my face.

I'm still a bit shaky.  You know it's like you know it wasn't real, but you still feel like maybe, just maybe it was...

Thanks for the concern Dude.

Actually it was that I'd witnessed a murder and the murderer then framed my Mum.  I knew she was innocent, but no-one in court would believe me.  My Mum was sent to the electric chair.

Hence me waking up crying.

Thought the electric chair was a U.S. specialty.

Can we dream (talking about realistic dreams, not fantasies) about things that we know will never happen?

You can use me as a case study if you like.  I know I'm a little frayed round the edges, but...

Death

Death is, for the psyche, a process of transformation.  Things which die in a dream are frequently replaced by something new.

Mother

When men dream of their own mother, she embodies their unconscious spiritual attitudes to women, which are formed by the mother's up bringing in early childhood.  In women's dreams, the mother correspondingly appears as an image of the dreamer's unconscious shadow .

So my unconscious shadow is going to be frazzled before transforming into a new shadow (presumably made of ash)?

  Now I am confused.

Death:

Dreaming about the death of a loved one, suggests that you are lacking a certain aspect or quality that the loved one embodies. Ask yourself what makes this person special or what do you like about him. It is that very quality that you are lacking in your own relationship or circumstances. Alternatively, it indicates that whatever that person represents has no part in your own life.

Mother:

Seeing your mother in your dream, represents the nurturing aspect of your own character. Mothers offer shelter, comfort, life, guidance and protection. Some people may have problems freeing themselves from their mothers and are thus seeking their own individuality and development. Dreaming that you are having a conversation with your mother indicates a matter that has preoccupied your mind and you are not sure how to deal with it in your waking life. It indicates unresolved problems that still need to be worked out with your mother. Hearing your mother call you in our dream means that you have been negligent in your duties and responsibilities. You are pursuing down the wrong path. Hearing your mother cry in your dream indicates some illness or affliction.

Perhaps that helps some? I'm not sure I believe in dream dictionaries, but they have helped me sort out some nightmares before. If you want to look up other parts of the dream go to http://www.hyperdictionary.com/dream

I think it's the image of my Mum being 'The Green Mile'd that's throwing me off the scent.
