If people bring out big guns when I'm in a room I generally assume they don't like me

Heh.  While Stead was being shot by the big guns, I was being gently prodded with a teaspoon.

We had an enormous build up with lots of preamble over the lastwiiek.  Messages from the execs saying that they had an exciting announcement to make today and thatwii should all prepare us for something really fantastic!

We are, our chief exec tells us, proud to be the sponsors of the 2012 Olympics.  Er... whenwii say 'the sponsor'wii mean... um... one of the sponsors.  So 'a' sponsor. wii paid for advertising.  Butwii're proud of it.

I paid for some shopping the other day.  I'm so proud of myself!  And I paid my car tax the otherwiiek.  Proud of that too.  And my rent.  I paid... er... no I didn't.  I am shamed.

Heh.  Do you think it's about time I turned the 'wii' filter off?

Bah, ntl used to send round emails justifying why theywiire spending millions in sponsorship at the same time as laying hundreds of people off, it didn't wash. They also sent one saying that no, the chief exec wasn't frittering away money he could be using to pay staff on a private jet, he shared it with someone else, so it was quite a bargain really. Again, bah.

A little bit, I should think. If you get enough big companies sponsoring it, you're sure to knock a billion or two off the price. I dunno how much we're donating cos I was mostly gazing out of the window.

The argument for spending all that cash, though, would be that the influx of athletes and tourists would contribute to the economy - they have to stay somewhere and they have to eat. Quite whether they'll spend £9bn, I wouldn't like to say.

(I posted this from my Wii. It took ages and now my wrist is sore...)
