The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
My Elly is poorly again. Something different this time - he's bleeding when he pees. I took him to the vets today (was lucky and got a same day appointment!!).
He has to stay in for about a week and have some blood tests, x-rays and a catheter (the vets exact description was "his bladder is the size of an orange because his willy is blocked"). The vet drew e a picture on his white board of Elly's willy and bladder. He's really quite poorly - it can be life threatening but Mr Vet said that they've had cats in far worse than Elly and they've recovered. The bill isn't going to be too pretty either - £300 - £400! Good thing Elly's worth it (shame we don't have the cash - we'll tell them that after he's had his treatment!)
I made the trip to the vets a family outing since Rochester and Bitsy (the rabbit) were both due for their boosters and annual check ups. Rochester was a star, he didn't meow, he didn't squirm, did't even notice the needle and he's healthy. Bitsy on the other hand was a BAD BUNNY. She kept jumping - straight up in the air. Did feel sorry for her though, the vet shoved a torch in her mouth, a needle in her neck, put dye in her eye (it looked like it might have been scratched, it wasn't) and then clipped her toe nails, halfway through which she freaked out, made a leap for the floor (luckily I'm a good catch) and ripped one of her claws out on the edge of the table - blood everywhere.
I'm exhausted now. Bitsy has finally stopped bleeding, I can phone the vets in 20 mins to see how Elly is, but I've got an appointment with my instructor at the gym at 8:00 - really can't be bothered. I'm very worried about Elly.
Anyway - vigil for my Elly Welly - kum bye ahhhhhh
Just had a call from the vets. Elly doesn't have blood poisoning and his kidneys are ok (first hurdle over!). He has a catheter at the moment and is "comfortable". He's gonna have to go on a prescription diet for the rest of his life. I can phone again tomorrow am and tomorrow evening. Basically - it's still pretty bad, but not as bad as it could have been. They thought he'd be too ill to do the catheter until later tomorrow, but that's already done.
Oooh, know how horrid it is when a pet has to say in the vets. Poor Elly, but poor you & Darren too. Good news about the kidneys though. Do they know what's up with him then?
He has crystals in his urine - possibly diet related (although aparently the diet he's on - Iams - has a really good track record for NOT causing bladder trouble). The crystals have blocked his willy so he can't pee so the urine has backed up and his bladder is all big and too full. Because he spent the last 24 hours licking himself more or less constantly, he's upset his tummy so he's being sick. Basically, they just need to sort his bladder out and then he goes on a PH balanced prescription diet for the rest of his life. Poor little soldier.
Vic had an update this morning - apparently the catheter has been removed and Ellie is a lot brighter (so presumably they snuck in a brain transplant while they were at it). He's apparently had a bath and been groomed (not his favourite passtime) and was extremely greedy at breakfast time. Pretty much back to normal then.
They've just got to make sure he's peeing properly and consistently and we may get him home tonight! Woohoo!
Elly isn't home today. He only did 2 pees this afternoon so they want to see what he does over night. Also they are expecting the lab results back tomorrow so they can decide which diet he shoud go on.
I think Rochester is missing him - he's being very clingy.
Elly is home. He's not quite himself yet though. Seems to be really tired. He's got special food and pills!! Got to take him back for a check up on Monday.
