It is kind of funny (notice I didn't change mine).

Kind of wish I was the guffing variety though...

Indulge in a few curries - it may happen!

Isn't curry a sauce?

No.  Tis an Indian delicacy that involves chicken
(or other meat) with herbs (note the 'H') and spices and things to make a lovely tasty (and sometimes nuclear) meal.   Mmmmmmmm.  Vicster make nice curries - Chicken Tikka Masala, Balti, Pasanda.  All from scratch.  She da man!

A curry doesn't have to have meat in, traditionally less likely to in fact, due to your average working class Indian being unable to afford it that often.

Have you never had Chinese curry either Nate?

I'm sorry, Sharon.  I feel forced to disagree with your assessment.  It would be utterly pointless having a curry with no meat in it beacuse... well it has no meat in it!

I suppose, however the concept of a vegetable curry is possible, remote though it might be.  Thank goodness for progress is all I can say.

'Meat' Bhuna, anyone?

Nope, have not had that Sharon.

Curry is a powder

Well wait a second, same page:

Cur"ry, n. [Tamil kari.] [Written also currie.] 1. (Cookery) A kind of sauce much used in India, containing garlic, pepper, ginger, and other strong spices.

But no, I tend not to eat the stuff if possible.

Chicken with peaches?

The sauce must just be the powder with water.

Hey!!

Curries are very long and complicated to make from scratch.

Lots of spices - freshly ground of course.  Curry leaves (where applicable) - you do know that curry powder is just a pre ground mix of different spices don't you Nate?!!

Most of the sauces are based on cream, yoghurt or coconut milk.  Very scrummy. yum yum

Ahh, I take it you go to the classier joints, where they refuse to specify which particuar species of dead animal they are currying?  It'll be rat I tell you, RAT! (or possibly mangy pigeon, or stray dog)

As I understand it, the poop is more to get a good yellow-brown colour in the curry.  The specific colour is achieved by feeding the rat exclusively on diary products for 6 months.  This also has the added benefit of being in liquid form already.

Dunno.  I don't run an Indian restaurant, so I'm not privy (hah!  geddit!) to all of the details.  I'll be sure to ask next time I have a curry, though....

Vic!!!  I wanna curry!

Chicken and Peaches

1 whole chicken
1 can cling peach halves
1/4 cup butter or margarine
1 tsp. curry powder
1 tbs. minced onion (fresh or dry)
1/2 tbs. wine vinegar
1/4 cup syrup from peaches

Melt the butter in a small saucepan, add the curry and simmer for 5 minutes. Stir in the onions, vinegar and syrup, simmer a minute or two longer. Use this mixture to baste the chicken.

Heat the oven to 400 degrees. Put the chicken in a single layer in a baking pan. Baste the top with some of the butter curry mixture. Turn every 15 minutes and baste with more of the mixture. At the end of the hour add the peach halves and bake for an additional 10 minutes.

I await your royal opnion
