Superman III

I was watching this on Sci-Fi last night and although I loved it as a kid I have issues:

How come he needed a tin of acid to melt the 'computer' :ahem: when he could've just melted the thing with his crazy-vision?

When he turns good again and blows the oil back into the tanker, whats keeping the oil in place while he uses said crazy-vision to weld the boat backk together?

While we're on the subject, Superman IV, what the hell is that he uses to repair the Great Wall of China? Cement-vision?

Heh heh heh.  Many issues to be had with the whacky later adventures of the Man of Steel.  Still... maybe all will be explained in the soon to be released 5 movie, 13 disk boxed set!

The idea of the acid was that the computer was supposed to be able to 'weigh up' any threat to it and deal with it before it could harm the computer.

The acid couldnt hurt the machine unless it got hot so Supes just needed to 'deliver it' - he was counting on the computer not understanding "High school physics" - which is kinda silly.

The whole oil tanker thing was just wrong...

Heh.  You may have watched this movie too much, dude!

I don't think I've actually seen Superman III for over a decade - possibly even up to 15 years.  And Superman IV even longer ago...

Stead, you obviously know your Supes, any explanation for his cement-vision then?

Druing the films they seemed to endow Supes with some additional powers that he didnt have in the comics -

In Supes II they gave Zod and his cronies the ability to "lift" people, though they had to point at them with a beam of light and Supes demonstrated other telekentic abilities during IV in the street fight with Nucleaman when he 'lowered' a SWAT team that NM had 'lifted', by just looking at them.

This kinda stuff just weakened the films for me - its kinda like fitting an 'everthing repellant' spray to Batman's utility belt so that he can cope with anything. They should keep to what the heroes can actually do - and blowing oil back into a tanker from the sea aint one of them!

Sounds like a good opportunity to put this on again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6SJNNbszcw - heh heh heh I love it...
