Am I missing something...?

Muslim anger grows at Pope speech   A statement from the Vatican has failed to quell criticism of Pope Benedict XVI from Muslim leaders, after he made a speech about the concept of holy war.

Speaking in Germany, the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said the Prophet Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things.

Pakistan's parliament passed a resolution on Friday criticising the Pope for making "derogatory" comments.

Now... there's a link to the text of the speech  on the page I've linked to above.  From what I can see, His Popeyness was using the quote to demonstrate historical intolerance between different cultures and goes on to pretty much say that it's someting we all have to work on.

So why are all these Muslim chappies so upset, exactly?  It's almost like someone wasn't listening to the sopeech properly, heard that bit, had a bit of a hissy fit and now won't back down.

I do indeed agree with you but I guess it's a bit like if someone was making an anti-war speech & said "Hitler said...", nobody's going to stay listening long enough to hear "...and that's why we must do the opposite.".  Honestly, does the guy not have speech writers?
