Is it me or is it quiet on here today?

Any gossip going on?

It is quite.  Maybe people are off creating gossip?  Boringly enough I've just been busy working.

No gossip here, if you are bored we can start a new topic.....................hmmm................how about describe the most annoying coworker ever.

Mine works in my office now.
Annoying traits

  • Clears his throat every 5 minutes
  • Makes no effort to make room if you pass in a narrow walkway
  • Cusses and damns his computer very loudly for everyone to hear
  • When he starts to tell a story or anecdote, he can't finish because he is laughing too hard, every time
  • Gets up from his cubicle constantly to walk around and look out the window, my nickname for him is "The Prairie Dog".
  • Has tourrets syndrome
    • Makes this weird noise described as a 'ppppaaahhhh' sound (the letter p followed by a long exhale)
    • The pppaaahhh noise is accompanied by a series of claps or slaps in rapid succession

Can anyone beat that?

Does he smell?
Does he breathe heavily?
Can you repeat most of those stories & anecdotes verbatim because you've heard them so often?
Does someone coming to work in a suit for an internal interview, but leaving his jacket on the back of his chair count as an amusing anecdote?

If not then I believe I can at least equal yours.

Did I ask if he smelt bad?

I have one with all of those qualities, Sharon.  He alwas has the faint smell of sick around him.

I also have a Scottish one who refuses to say 'You can take our lives but you'll never take our freedom'.  How annoying is that?

I'm quite quiet today...

Does not smell bad (I don't get close enought to find out), but has not bought new work clothes in 25 or so years and clothes he does wear are tight and thin. His dress shirts are very thin and he doesn't wear a t-shirt under them, you can see old man skin underneath

Trust me, if it was as bad as I'm talking about you'd not have to get close!

A few years ago when I was workinmg in Bornemouth, there was a guy that you could smell on the next floor.

It was horrific when you found yourself in the lift with him.  I took the stairs quite a lot.

Woot - glad I prompted this now - great idea for a thread!

I have a loud scotsman next to me - who is too nice if that makes sense!

Surely you've not reached your advanced years without happening accross a "too nice" person?  The ones who never bitch, even when they ought, who are busy checking you're OK after you land flat on your arse, whilst all around are doubled up with laughter, the ones who actually manage to offer you cups of tea too often?  Nothing's ever too much trouble for them & they'll bend over backwards to please.  If you date them they are deleriously happy, despite the fact you've just told them you can't see them for 6 weeks & when you they're going to have to fly out to meet you in Outer Mongolia because you'll be too busy to get back.  If you work with them they'll cancel their plans & work late, so you can go early.  they are total doormats.

Oh, & may I just say that it's a bit chilly today & I'd really, really like to shut the windows, but it's just not a viable option!

Oh yes, chilly is a pleasant change, I'd just like the option of looking at it through closed windows!

You guys in NY are getting what we have been dealing with here in the Midwest for the last week. I love how now its "National News" now that it has hit NY, Boston, and DC. All the morning shows are now covering it like it just started.

Nods.. I was watching the "heat map" and some places got it even worse than we did.. South Dakota was 108 or something like that... base.

I think its making news here because we just don't get weather like that usually.. I think the hottest our last heat wave got was "oh noes its 101!"
