Knock Knock

Heh heh.  Amazingly, I was actually working when I came across this article:

Knock-based commands for your Linux laptop

For the first time, you can hit your computer and get a meaningful response! Using Linux® and the Hard Drive Active Protection System (HDAPS) kernel drivers, you can access the embedded accelerometers on Lenovo (formerly IBM®) ThinkPads, then process the accelerometer data to read specific sequences of "knocking" events -- literally rapping on the laptop case with your knuckles -- and run commands based on those knocks. Double tap to lock the screen, and knock in your secret code to unlock. Tap the display lid once to move your mp3 player to the next track. The possibilities are endless.

Windows version please.  I wanna be able to punch my computer when it p*sses me off.  Er...  well...  Punch it for a good reason, anyway...

the macs have a thing in them that senses droppage .. and turns the harddrive off (to minimalise damage to said harddrive if you drop it).. however people have hacked it so you can play games like those ones where you roll marbles around but you actually pick up the laptop and tilt it side to side and back and forth, it's pretty funny. that's my story.

I take back everything I ever said about Macs - this is the coolest thing I ever heard of.

Imagine using it for a flight sim or something - very cool!

Wii.

And PS3.

Both reportedly will have motion sensors built into the controllers for just that purpose.

I'm lookin' forward to seeing one in action.  Rumour has it that we'll be getting it in November - so about the same time as the PS3, which doesn't really excite me.
