I've seen an awful lot of below standard drivers in the last few weeks.  I saw one that was so bad that they had 4 flags (yes, I said 4!) on their car!


Oddly, I don't seems to have been issued with mine.  Ho hum...

Wow... that's impressive. We should have that here.

What do they base your flags on? How many accidents/tickets you've had or something? Is there a test you have to take every year or something?

If you commit a driving offence, speeding or whatever, you get points on your licence.  You get a flag for every 3 points.  If you get 5 or more flags, you get banned.


If you have an accident that's your own fault, you get an additional flag.


The flags are attached to the car by a DVLA official - they have a grip on em that's impossible to get off without a special key, so you can't take 'em off short of taking the door off your car.


And you're not allowed to sell or dispose of a flagged car.


One of the best new laws we've had for ages!  Go Tony!

Apparently they're expecting a 50% decrease in traffic offences as a result which is, frankly, excellent.
