Possibly the most unpleasant thing in the universe

Ewwww...  I may have sleepless nights over this...

For our Eastenders-deprived non-brit population, Dot Cotton is a character in the UK's most watched soap.  In fact i think it's the most watch TV programme over here.  It sucks, it really does.  But loadsa people watch it.  And they suck too.

They are just at the point now when Pete Beale dies...

Sorry.. but that's not nearly as bad as the rather crude Bea Arthur "nude" that I ran across sometime back. I'd post it but not only is it decidedly NSFW - it's not safe for your eyes either.

Nah.  Credit card fraud ain't a problem, KT.  It should cause you no inconvenience whatsoever.  Just inform the issuer that they have paid outside mandate and wait for 'em to refund.  Don't let it worry you at all.  Trust me on this.  If they decide to argue the point, just repeat yourself and mention the word 'ombudsman'.  It'll be fine!

(imo it's possibly the most unpleasant thing in the world, not because you're out of money (cause you get it back) but because someone out there stole my details .. and then my money.. and they wont get caught)

well it was all working out ok when i finally got travelocity to admit that it was them that took the money and they refunded..

.. now i'm out £22 because of the exchange rate transactions - i wasn't really that bothered yesterday cause i knew it would work out - now i'm really pissed off cause who knows who is going to give me back my £22

Um.

The credit card company has a legal responsibility to return you to the position you were in before they paid outside mandate.  So it sounds to me like they owe you £22.

And with a credit card, it's not your money they're nicking - it's the card issuer's.

You shouldn't have needed to get in touch with Travelocity yourself.  That's the card issuer's job.  You should bill 'em for your time.  Sounds like they don't know what they're doing.  Who are they?  I'll go and sit on 'em for you.
