The 2005 Anti-Rant Thread

Come on then.  The very opposite to Hengle's rant thread.  What was really great about 2005?

Lots of great movies, notably: Sin City, Batman, Serenity and hopefully King Kong (which I probably won't get to see before the New Year, dammit!)

New Doctor Who.  Yay!

Copper's gingery curry recipe.  (Now if only I can get her to come over and cook it for me...)

City of Heroes - God, I've wasted so much of my life on that this year...

So many good thingsa bout 2005

The state of modern music in general has taken a sharp turn upwards.

My good lady getting a 1st in her degree and now piling through the masters.

Jamming with JT

The overwhelming sense of pride at the people of this nation who are willing to drop everything, work hard, and give eveything they can to help those in other countries who are suffering.  The effort after last years Tsunami was amazing, the rallying together after the London bombings was superb.  Very proud of everyone who helped in that (and that includes Kingy carrying PA speakers about ... well done mate )

I got my dream acoustic on my 30th birthday.

But, the best thing about this year ... Stead said "I found out what I can be like, ooh, didn't like that"   The context is irrellevant and I may have paraphrased slightly but the point is, for one micro second, there was a dent in that world class ego

Live8 - nice to see the musicians making a difference again -

Tsunami gig - nice to see us make a difference again!

Spending time with my Jammie friends on here

Getting a super promotion (again - hehe)

Getting fit and healthy -

All good about 2005! - oh and getting the original line up of the band back together - that rocked! - oh and Batman begins!

Yes, because all those concerts sure raised a lot of ... awareness.  From Wikipedia's "Live 8" entry:

"Other critics say that millionaire rock stars would make greater contribution by donating parts of their personal fortunes. Indeed, as some of the performers involved had been out of the public eye, some may have perceived the concert as a way of getting back "into the spotlight". It is also important to note that Live 8, unlike Live Aid, didn't intend to raise money, but awareness and political pressure."

Not to mention the gift baskets the performers received (I've seen between $8k and $12k, depending on where you look) and the jabs about the almost exclusively white lineup.

Wait ... I suppose this should have gone in the rant thread.  My bad.
