My Hoosiers

Can't figure out why they're only ranked 18th after they obliterated Kentucky last weekend...

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/clubhouse?teamId=84

These guys are the real deal, wonder what they'll rank 'em after they put a beat-down on UConn and the Big Ten?!

No clue.  I suspect it may be netball related.

We'll see Nate, I gotta pull for my Illini. Probably won't get near as far this year because they lost all but one of their starters from last year. Indiana would be my second choice as far as supporting. Good luck!

That would be basketball, mates.

Illinois has looked good despite loosing quite a bit of talent. Still thinking IU's looking mighty fine this year. We shall see. Good luck, then.

Is that a metaphor?

I was kind of hoping Illinois would win, as I am a Big Ten man.

But I picked UNC in my pool...

Did you attend Illinois then, Brian?

College Basketball, and playoff tournament pools (pick the winners). It's a slice of Americana, mate. What's not to get?

Nope, Nate, but I grew up near there. I went to Southern Illinois University. I grew up in Decatur, IL about 30 miles from Champaign-Urbana. I always kind of kicked myself for going to SIU because the U or I is such a better school but I was just following my friends to SIU like a turd. Plus I would not have met my wife so all worked out in the end.

Decatur is where the Red Star is. Champaign-Urbana is to the east. Carbondale (Where SIU is) is to the south. I am currently in St. Louis to the south west of Decatur.

Ah yes, The Salukis. Iowa's current head coach, Steve Alford, and IU alum, coached there for a while. I remember him winning a few games in the Tourney a while back with them.

That's pretty close to Bloomington, Indiana, where I went to school.

Sounds like it all worked out for the better, then!

Hence the beauty of College sports, you get the sport and you get to revel in your past a little.

Illinois' current coach Bruce Webber was the head coach at SIU when I went. My senior year they made it to the Sweet 16, a pretty damned good accomplishment for a mid-major. They got beat by UCONN who won it all that year.

You do that, and me and Nate will have to start discussing the Infield Fly Rule. Besides we have an offside rule in Football as well.

'soccer' was the one we were talking about silly - and what you really meant to say was 'football'
