The following Dodgers have been smited by the JDK for their crimes against Jam:
All the girls! for picking on the JDK and damaging his already delicate self esteem!
The Basserd Who Nicked Copper's Stuff For the offense of nicking Copper's stuff. You are a tw*t, whoever you are and we all hope you get run over by a tram in Nottingham. Or Liverpool. Or whereever else they have trams!
Copper For the crime of playing with her Wii instead of her Jammie pals!
I say not, if I had a relative or kid who was waiting on a transplant and had to watch that oaf on the news constantly cos he broke his new liver with beer, I'd be a bit angry!
Touchy one this - is alchoholism an illness or not? Probably -
If the guy was around now as a player he would have been shielded a lot more and not allowed to screw himself up so much - but I think he had a pretty good life!
He certainly would have done his fair share of suffering

Alcoholism is a touchy subject for many, some will have very little sympathy others a lot. I would echo the comments that had George Best been in his prime today, there would be a lot more help open to him from all quarters to stop him going to the excesses that he did.
My girlfriend recently saw her uncle go from relatively healthy, to hospital, to a coma and death within 72 hours thanks to his alcoholism. Having heard back I wouldn't wish what has happened to the Best family on anyone

My point though is not to bad mouth alcoholics, or wish suffering on anyone, as I know how that goes unfortunately.
Im just saying he got a second chance, a much better second chance than many, he knew what he was doing. I know its easy saying it, but maybe he should've had more respect for those who CAN'T get a new liver for whatever reason.
Oh I agree, you would think that needing a liver transplant would be a warning sign and no matter how much you want a drink your survival instinct would kick in and stop you.
Interestingly, his doctor said that it would take another 20 years for him to feck that liver up, it was the rest of him that gave in.

i heard one doctor saying that alcoholism is a disease that some people just can't beat no matter how hard they try - the liver thing is a controvery with him yes, but right now, and as a resident of the town he lived in and hearing how much people loved him we should consider how much he did actually do and mean to people.. i think he was the number one person ashamed of himself for what happened (hence the pics he let people take and the blow by blow account he let his doctor give about his illness)
